wacky... megatak was apparently a casualty of the first videogame boom.. heh.. mirage was a 2nd rate Mysterio (what, he wasn't available?).. and Turner D was a one-note 1960s Batman villain escaped into the marvel U.. I hope that Frank has fun beating them down..

Very fun little previews... you know Frank is gonna lay waste to all of them, but they're making these Z-listers sound to be pretty damn serious in these previews, in a "how the hell can one man with a bunch of fancy guns take all these guys down?" kind of way. Very effective promo, if nothing else... 'course, I'd be buying the book (and loving it) without it...

Be afraid, Frank Castle, be very afraid.

Are these guys resurrected long term, or just as cannon fodder for Punisher?

Looking at that PUNISHER #5 layout, clearly TDC is a replacement.
I'm guessing Miracle Man, the only person in the spread who looks remotely like Turner, doesn't come back after all...?

There've gotta be plans for a few of them, at least. They brought back 17 and are only using 12 here, so 5 of them may be getting usage elsewhere as part of The Hood's gang.

TURNER. D. CENTURY. OMG.
I'd love to know how he wound up in line for a ressurection. This is the guy who rode around on a little flying push bike with a doll on the back seat (As he had no friends, partners or any fucking dignity whatsoever) and who was raised by that terrifying little midget in a bath robe and a motor-chair right?

Never heard of Turner D. Century. He sounds very cool.
"Yay. Comic books are fun."
They had me at Turner D. Century. I hope he can keep a few of these guys alive they make the Marvel Universe a richer place. I really loved Death Adder as a kid, and I always loved Birdman's design. I also love the redesigns of the Human Fly and Basilisk. And I effing love the Hijacker's upgrade, that helmet is killer.
Each villain in it's place and in it's way, Turdner D. Century is definitely the type of villain who requires henchmen.

I remember (and liked) Mirage from an old Marvel Tales issue that I read. Now that I look at him, his costume/gimmicks remind me a bit of Mirror Master!
I don't read Punisher, but I'll get this arc in tpb, it sounds so good.

^Um, just getting here, and I have to ask, where's the fifth and final part of the rooster of the Hood's Punisher Hit Squad ?

I don't think they went through all the trouble of redesigning these guys to have Frank lay them to waste in the span of the next six issues. Some of them are sure to stay. I personally hope to see Lascivious and Leetha stick around.
And, of course, Turner D. Century, so he can show up in an issue of Deadpool.

I don't think there was a 5th part. They advertised 12 guys, and there were 3 in each of the 4 parts.
Furthermore, they ran these particular spotlight pages in the most recent PUNISHER issue. There were no others.

The article actually refers to 17 resurrected villains: "As readers of Marvel Comics’ “Punisher” know, issue #5 saw the Hood -- under orders from Norman Osborn --resurrect 17 villains previously killed by Scourge; 17 villains who’ll gang together to kill Frank Castle. The story will unfold in the five-part “Dead End,” beginning in this month’s “Punisher” #6 by Rick Remender and Tan Eng Huat."
Either there are 5 more villains, or there was a typo repeated several times in the article...

There are 5 villains who didn't get pages. They'll most likely not play a pivotal role, since the team is supposedly called the Deadly Dozen.

I found the costumed villains to be good homage while the costumed Microchipwannabe to be bad parody. Good issue, bad price. Who are the Shaolin Scientist Squad working for? And seeing Letha makes me miss Brunhilde.

Henry's not a costumed Micro wanna-be by any means. He was wearing that get-up while testing the new tech he was working on, but that's not his typical garb. He usually wears street clothes. Remender did a good job last issue of showing how he is far more relevant to The Punisher's cause in this era than the "crusty old hacker", as he was called in said issue. The tongue-in-cheek cannon fodder known as the "Shaolin Scientist Squad" has shown up twice now in Osborn facilities, so it would stand to reckon that they're supposed to be under Oscorp employ.
I agree about the price. It goes back down to $2.99 next issue and thereafter. I don't know if the back-up pages with the villain bios drove up the price (if so, I could have REALLY done without them. Especially since I saw them here first!), or if they were test marketing a price increase. Either way, $3.99 is too high.

I wonder if Turner D. Century was based on Ted Turner.

I figured they'd shuffle 5 of them off to other comics as part of Hood's gang.
But there in the first ish of this arc was Miracle Man, getting dialogue and everything, so I guess 5 of them (he was one of the 5 without a profile page) are as good as dead again.....

One of the crappier villains. Maybe Hood HAD to include him as part of the spell otherwise why bother?

The twelve that have been spotlighted were all I was asked to write. Take that however you will.

The "or not" part applies I think. Definitely don't think anyone reading the books or the promo material should take them as a hard-and-fast display of which characters are going to survive or be instant canon fodder, because that definitely isn't the case.

Am just looking forward to the comic, the new writer Rick Remender seems to be getting the M U 616 punisher quite good,
and John Rominta JR , returns to draw The Punisher soon, for the first time in ten years actually,
so Remender must be doing some thing right for a big artist like Rominta JR to be drawing Frank again.........

I'm looking forward to reading all this in trade.
It's kind of funny how Rick Remender went from inker of Kieron Dwyer on Avengers to "hot scribe" after Marvel saw that he could actually write as well. The guy's multi talented.

I'd love to see a story where Turner D. does take control of a town like they talked about. He could be make for an interesting oddball. They should team him up with Ringmaster.

Oh yeah totally! I wasn't really sure if I would pick this up, but with Basilisk, Death Adder and TCD? Consider it bought. Spider-Woman sure had the best villains.
