Hey everybody I got this link off of Reddit.com. It's a Batman Fanfilm all in subtitles. Be warned though it has a very Sin City like hard edge. Check (http://www.ashestoashes-themovie.com/) it out and let me know what you think.

Saw this a few days ago, watched it again when I found your link here, and after rewatching it I find I dislike it even more than I did the first time.
It's not traditional Batman, true, but that's not what bothers me about it. In fact, storyline wise I think it's pretty interesting. What I dislike is that it just tries to darn hard. It seems like it's trying to evoke some of the best pieces of Batman from Jeph Loeb, Frank Miller, Grant Morrison, and others but all those flavors mixed together just end up tasting like rubbish to me.
They needed to pick one style and go with it. It also needed to pick a character and stick with it; first it's a story about a reluctant criminal, then it's a story about Batman finally snapping, then it seems sort of like a retelling of Harley Quinn's origin.
To much going on in one flick.
I think this could have been a good film if they'd picked which character the story was about and stuck with that person. I think the black and white aspect was a great touch that gave it a classic noir feel, but they used a few to many 'Sin' camera angles and effects that felt like they were tacked on just for the sake of being there rather than for any real reason. I didn't need every other frame to be filmed on old film, through a dirty lens, hidden behind a rain slick window pane, sewer grate, fence, or confessional window.
I didn't watch the whole thing. It reminds me a lot of Azarello's Joker story, in that it's concentrated on the villain as opposed to Batman.

Gee, have some gratitude. It's free.

I know what you mean about the too much at once effect this film suffers from, but that's the Fanfilm style. They always seem like long trailers.

Gee, lighten up, it's my personal opinion that in no way affects your own.

Yeah, I think this one actually could have benefitted more from having a 'Movie Trailer' approach like Grayson did. Since this one runs as ong consecutive scene by scene thing the disjointed parts are a little more blatant then they would be if it was played off more like a movie trailer, where not everything makes cohesive sense.

Honestly, as an artist, I'd rather have constructive criticism, which this certainly is, than fawning admiration.
The criticism Chiroptera has given is detailed, to the point and in almost every case, gives specific, correctable reasons.

that wasn't too bad. Pretty good if you consider that it was free.
