Dirty Deeds!

"Dirty Deeds" is a series of threads where a discussion can be held about the morally questionable, or outright evil acts of characters in comics. It might be a discussion about times a hero crossed a moral line they shouldn't have, or a discussion of a villain's most horrific acts in their history, but the premise remains the same.

Where possible, a poll will be included to vote upon said character's "dirtiest deed".

Please do remember that there are no wrong answers, this is all a matter of opinion. Since everyone has a different set of morals, please try and respect differences in people's own beliefs.

Dirty Deeds has reached its sixty-first profile, and we’re going to look at an X-Man who is a former international detective, a mutant headmaster, and the owner of his very own castle. It’s that famous Irish superhero known as…

Sean Cassidy…
Banshee!!!

So what is Banshee’s "Dirtiest Deed"?

- Resisting arrest, and fleeing police capture for interrogation? (revealed in Classic X-Men #16)

- Going undercover with Interpol, leaving his wife Maeve behind, pregnant with his daughter Theresa? (revealed in X-Force (vol. 1) #31)

- Attacking his cousin Tom with his sonic scream and leaving him with a permanent limp, for not doing a better job of protecting Maeve while he was away on his Interpol mission? (revealed in X-Force (vol. 1) #31)

- Going rogue from Interpol, and rather than bringing Arkady Rossovich in alive, emptying a whole clip of a gun into him, attempting to kill him? (revealed in Generation X #10-11)

- Arresting his own cousin, Black Tom Cassidy, on behalf of Interpol? (revealed in X-Force (vol. 1) #31)

- Breaking into the home of a mobster named Almadovar to illegally obtain evidence against him, and then allowing Deadpool to escape after he murdered the man? (revealed in Deadpool:Sins Past #2)

- Stealing a painting just because it reminded him of his native Ireland and some pipe tobacco? (Uncanny X-Men #28)

- Working with the Ogre to attempt to kidnap Professor Xavier for Factor Three? (Uncanny X-Men #28)

- Attacking Captain America and the Falcon? (Captain America (vol. 1) #172)

- Trying to recruit Santa Claus into the X-Men on Christmas Eve? (Marvel Holiday Special 1991)

- Knocking his own cousin Tom off the battlements of Cassidy Keep, and not trying to fly down to save him from a potentially lethal fall? (Uncanny X-Men #103)

- Using his sonic scream to destroy Jahf, the guardian of the M’Kraan Crystal? (Uncanny X-Men #108)

- Shooting his girlfriend’s insane son, Proteus, with a gun? (Uncanny X-Men #128)

- Using his sonic scream against Rogue? (X-Factor (vol. 1) #69)

- Physically assaulting both his daughter, Siryn and lover, Moira Mactaggart? (Uncanny X-Men #278)

- Freeing Sabretooth from captivity, and blowing up the Xavier Mansion ready room? (Uncanny X-Men #316)

- Breaking into a S.H.I.E.L.D. safehouse, and knocking out the staff working there? (Uncanny X-Men #317)

- Bursting into Emma Frost’s bedroom one night without permission, seeing her half-naked? (Generation X #7)

- Opening the door of a passenger jet in mid-flight, risking the lives of everyone on board? (Generation X #18)

- Putting Emma Frost in a coma with his sonic scream? (Generation X #25)

- Smashing through the roof of the Massachusetts Academy? (Generation X #27)

- Punching Emma Frost in the face and trying to throw her out of her own school, the Massachusetts Academy? (Generation X #31)

- Accusing Emma Frost of cheating at miniature golf? (Generation X #42)

- Hosting a Danger Room training session where he threw a basketball at Chamber’s head, then tried to attack Emma Frost from behind? (Generation X #43)

- Taking his underage student, Skin, out to a pub? (Generation X #73)

- After the death of Moira MacTaggart, completely succumbing to a series of drinking binges while still serving as headmaster at the Massachusetts Academy? (Generation X #73-75)

- Using the captive telepath, Martinique Wyngarde, to psionically force the Blob, Avalanche, and others into joining his mutant paramilitary group, X-Corps? (Uncanny X-Men #401-403)

He’s been an Interpol detective, the head of Generation X and his X-Corps, Siryn’s “da” and the love of Moira MacTaggart’s life! Now vote for what you think is the worst of Banshee’s “Dirty Deeds”!

My favorite look for the guy. Bachalo and the Larry Bird varsity Jacket = win.

If/when he comes back he needs to show up in full throwback Larry Bird garb! Home white jersey and black Converse.

I voted on using Martinique to force Blob, Avalanche, and others to participate in X-Corps... but would've voted for the assault on Siryn and Moira if it were to be included in the poll.

Other: boarding that stupid plane operated by Brubaker Air.

While I don't condone hitting women, there's something kind of hilarious to the idea of him slugging Emma Frost in the face. (Anyone see Rules of Attraction and not crack-up when Vanderbeek socks Biel in the face? I'm a dick.)

I voted the assault of Emma Frost because...I'm always going to care most when Emma's been wronged. Plain and simple.

Also because seeing her half-naked was something she volunteered when she threw the sheet down. And why not? It is after all the best body money can buy.

I don't know if you could find one that's very similar to Banshee's...

But try going to a mall, shops like Foot Locker, Champs, Sports Authority, etc... you might see similar ones there. Good luck!

Eh, he hit Moira and Terry while they both were under the influence of the Shadow King during the second part of the Muir Island Saga. I gave him a pass for extenuating circumstances there.

Emma though... it's like her face was a magnet that attracted Sean's fist.

Heresy.

Ah, true... he does have a habit of hitting women, strangely enough.

On a side note, Larry Bird was also guilty of hitting his first wife too. Coincidence?

The difference is, when Banshee learned he had a daughter, he was thrilled. Not so much on Larry Legend, who denied paternity all the way up until 1998 on the kid he fathered back in 1977.

He was my favorite basketball player of all time... but he made it a challenge to sell as a role model, though he was no Magic Johnson off the court by any measure.

Ah, Larry Legend...

Wonder if Banshee will similarly be, only a Legend from now on?

I keep wondering if there's anything to the teases PAD does when Siryn talks about how her dad's not really dead. But I think they're just that, mentions.

I mean, he was already getting up there in years when he died... he's with Moira or Maeve, in the hereafter... why bring him back and take him away from that?

Fans might miss him, his death was a pointless attempted heroic act... if only he had saved one of the planes, you know?

Assaulting Emma, letting the alcohol affect his role with Gen X kids, and forcing mutants into X-Corps using Martinique are the dirtiest to me.

Larry Bird has been called "The Basketball Jesus" by a certain sports columnist... perhaps you wish to anoint a similar moniker to Mr. Cassidy?

Good luck in finding a C's jacket!

Shame Emma never walked in on Sean half naked, to return the favor, though.

Agreed. Scott's too busy beating himself up over his dead wife and poor decision making skills for him and Emma to smack each other around. Emma needs someone who shares her love of mindless violence. (At the moment she's stuck getting her jollies by beating up old russian guys with Collosuss. She needs a proper outlet)

Emma wouldn't stay with Sean for long. Sure she'd have great sex but Sean doesn't play Emma little games and would spank her ass if she tried any funny stuff. On second thought, she'd probably mate with him for life.
