I was rereading my Hawkman run and am amazed at how georgeous and detailed his artwork was. Why didn't rags become a superstar?

He was, for a while. They put him on Identity Crisis and he was massive.
Then they put him on Wonder Woman, and due to schedule problems and a lot of personal problems he was unable to do many issues and there were long periods where he just didn't have anything out. He was goin to be the regular artist on Dini's Detective, but had to back out due to personal problems.
He's just sort of recovering from that, I guess, and lately he's been putting out a lot more - Batman Confidential "The Wrath" arc, JLA fill ins, Nightwing issues, and now he's going to be doing the "New Wave" series with Brian Azz, featuring The Spirit, Doc Savage, Blackhawk and possibly the Shadow.
Hopefully that will do something to put him in the spotlight again.

I really liked his style back on Black Condor. His more recent stuff just comes across more like typical competent superhero art.

Go back and get HOURMAN that he did with Tom Peyer. Really exciting and imaginative stuff. The whole series was just wacky and fun and Morales did some outstanding work.

I saw his work recently in something and it was just... ugh. Was it JLA? I do agree that he should have been a real star by now. I'd love to see him on a Hawkman ongoing written by Augustyn.

This is a thread dedicated to my upcoming project with Brian Azzarello.
As I've stated before, I'm psyched for this opportunity. Speaking with Brian, and only knowing a vague impression of what we're expected to do, it was a seamless vision that I had of this thing. Really, it was almost like I was born for it.
During our conversations, there were times that I interrupted Brian with an immediate knee jerk reaction to make sure I completely understood, and it felt like we were completely single-minded.
And BELIEVE me it won't be just about Doc Savage and the Spirit.
This WILL BE about comics. With everything seemingly melting into everything else in comics, this project will be for the fans of our genre.
And definitely NOT FOR SISSIES.

I was never a fan of his work, as his work on non-white characters has always seemed sucky to me. He even admited that he draws Vixen like GEENA DAVIS.
