I was under the impression that Streets of Gotham focused on the Commissioner Gordon and other characters but from the solicits it seems very much a Batman title. Did this change or was it always this way?

Batman is still the main character in this title. It's called Batman: Streets of Gotham after all. But it will be told through side character's, villain's or others' point of view

I will have to see it to understand it first.

It;'s too shady at the moment.

When I found out that Streets of Gotham was actually a Batman title i thought this might be the best of the 3. Anyone else think so?

Not really.

Dini's 'Tec run was quite frankly boring.

Idk, im tending to agree a bit with Winghead. I loved Morrison's stuff on Batman, but here its like he dumbed himself down a bit. Of course I'll still read Batman and Robin, but I may pick up Streets of Gotham now. I def wasnt planning on picking it up before, but that ad on the last page of B & R #1 got me excited for it.

I'm curious to see where exactly they're going with Streets. For the most part, Dini's run on Detective blew me away. Batman needed those done-in-one detective stories, it was all very capable, and a few of them were absolutely top notch (Slayride ... Trust ... wow, those both have Joker in them ...). Heart of Hush was stellar as well.

I keep hearing things that seem to conflict each other about Streets of Gotham. Obviously it's not quite Gotham Central. It's not as strictly about the GCPD, it spreads out a little bit to the other areas Batman comes into contact with. The D.A.'s office ... possibly the press ... and the other vigilantes in town. And Batman is a little less of the urban legend / shadowy commando that he was in Central. Okay, that's fine ... but I read in one place it's the "third" Batman book and in another place it's not.

I intended to read it anyway, since with Dini writing it'd be at least capable and I'd know whether it was going to hook or not based on the first issue. But DiDio last week described it as having a "Law & Order" vibe between Gordon and Bullock and Kate Spencer, who appears as the D.A. in SoG and then co-features ... and that description came up once or twice before, months and months ago ... and I really truly hope it's an apt analogy and that we really do have a sort of a "Law & Order: Gotham" book.

The latest picture of the "Batman Board" in Mike Marts' office on IGN seems to confirm that the book will primarily feature Gordon and Bullock, and based on the likes of Zsasz, Firefly and this new guy, Abuse being on the board, it'll be cool to see the GCPD take down some C-Listers. Meanwhile ... the kind of intrigue behind Dick Grayson as Batman interacting with Gordon, and Tommy Elliot attempting to screw around with Bruce Wayne's image could also be really impressive.

And the Manhunter back-up with her gunning for the newest killer on the block, Jane Doe, is a welcome bonus.

I'm excited for it. I don't know if I'm more excited than for the rest of Batman and Robin, especially after those teaser pages showing the Red Hood, Batwoman and Hurt.

Mike Marts has pretty much cleared this up in his recent interview (http://comics.ign.com/articles/988/988283p1.html).

IGN Comics: What kind of role will Batman play in the two series?

Marts: In Streets of Gotham, Batman is still very much the main protagonist. The title of it is Batman: Streets of Gotham, and we're treating this as more or less a new Batman monthly series. He'll still be the main character in this. The difference in Streets of Gotham is that these are Batman stories told through the point of view of other characters in Gotham City. So it could be Commissioner Gordon telling the story, it could be a villain, or it could be a supporting character telling the story.

IGN Comics: When you look at the concept of the Streets of Gotham, it's easy to compare it to Gotham Central. In that book, Batman was more of a phantom or a behind-the-scenes presence.

Marts: He's more than that in Streets of Gotham. Other people have asked this question, and I think it's different than Gotham Central because the focus of this book is on Batman. The Gotham City Police Department does show up and play a role in the book, but they're not main characters. The main character is Batman.

I dont know i think there is too many Batman starring series.

Let Jim Gordon, the villains have their GC like comic.

I will read this for Paul Dini. I hope its good enough.

I think Streets of Gotham is going to be awful.

Sirens, on the other hand, will be amazing.

Reasoning? Dini's best arcs on "Detective" were the ones that focused on the characters featured in the latter.

While I will be picking up B&R, I was not even slightly impressed with RIP. Dini's 'Tec was always the better title for me. I'm looking forward to all of Dini's titles.
