As Trinity has concluded just recently. I was wondering which of the three weekly series did DC readers enjoy best?

1] 52

2] Countdown to Final Crisis

3] Trinity

If you did like a particular one, why did you like it better than the other two. Or why did you dislike the other two more than the one weekly series that you did like?

52 was superior to both Countdown and Trinity in every possible way imaginable... I'm just sayinbg that... It's actually fact...

In fact I dare anyone to state anything either Trinity or Countdown had done better 52...

Trinity ended up having a mostly neutral body count (Tomorrow Woman was brought back to life, that sidekick of Xor was killed, and everybody else who died was either revived at the end or was already dead when the story started), while 52 killed off Vic Sage and a bunch of Titans and the Black Marvel family.

I agree that 52 is better than Trinity, but that's definitely a bonus to Trinity.

I think they all suffered in part where it seemed to drag, but to be fair I don't think it is easy to write a story that long and not have stretch it at times.

I liked 52 and Trinity but hated countdown.

Trinity. The story was a lot more streamlined I thought.

52 and Countdown were more significant but I prefered Trinity because it had nothing to do with any current event.

It was just a big, sweeping story with pencils by one of my favorite artists.

52 obviously destroyed Countdown.

Truth be told I barely dipped into Trinity because as much as I like Busiek & Bagley I equally dislike the title characters.

I voted for 52. Basically it undid what COIE did in the DCU.

I'm gonna go with 52, seeing as I've only read one issue each from Trinity and Countdow. It's weird, but has anyone else found this, even though Countdown ahs had some pretty bad reception but Iv'e never heard anyone speak badly of Dini's writing?

I've alwyas thought putting one writer on a weekly series is a bad idea, the team who worked on 52, all great writers, had each otehr to work with. 52 issues on your own? That's some pretty tought work, gotta give a lto of credit to Dini and Busiek for pulling it off.

Trinity. The story was a lot more streamlined I thought.Precisely my thought. Countdown was bit unfocused, likely since it was Dini's general plot given to various writers to plot and script for individual issues. 52 was unfocused in that stories would end up dropped for perhaps weeks at a time while others were highlighted (going against the very premise of every comic representing a week).

I got from Trinity what I was promised. A coherent, focused story that was independent of other goings-on.

52 was my favourite as I always prefer stories with 2nd tier characters over the big three. The writers just have more freedom and can have more fun with them, and it shows.

Trinity was my 2nd favourite. Busiek knows how to tell a damn good story, and his respect for the characters shows through. Sure, he can't change the status quo of the Big Three, but he still managed a fun tale in my eyes. Likewise, Mark Bagley's art was a pleasure to see in every issue.

Countdown was a bloody mess from issue one, err, fifty-one. It had so much potential, and it was all wasted. This was everything a comic series should NOT be.

52. I just loved that series. It highlighted some great characters that I would have never take notice of before and that are now some of my favorites. It was also a nice dose of mystery and suspense week in and week out.

In terms of story and ideas, 52 was my absolute favorite. It was just perfectly executed and the team of writers handled their characters with great relish. You could just tell that each of the writers loved their story segments and handled them with great care (Greg Rucka's Question and Grant Morrison's Science Squad storylines being my particular favorites).

I think Trinity was superior in that something akin to the idea behind Wednesday Comics could be made more affordable were it to go down in a Trinityesque format.

What I mean to say is, instead of DC releasing a 16-page $3.99 weekly with 16 stories by excellent creators in every issue, they could have a series, perhaps entitled DC Showcase in which both veteran and new talent craft all sorts of stories in weekly installments. The mag would have 2 stories every week, one being 12 pages, the other being 10. They could be serialized, or they could be one-shots, or whatever. Were I DC's EIC, this is what I would shoot for, when thinking up the next weekly series.

52, no contest. 52 had by far the best (and most consistent) writing, the best stories, and had important events that affected the characters long term.

I'm going with Trinity. I enjoyed parts of 52, and some I didn't.

I don't consider 52 a weekly comic anyway. It was written as a number of monthly comics sharing the same title, the way it dealt with its different plots, only running some of them every few weeks. And I absolutely loathed the end.

I only picked a few issues of each title but 52 seemed to be the most interesting, had the best covers, and the Black Adam Marvel family was a great attraction.

Although Countdown seems to be generally disliked, 2 of the 3 issues I bought were fun. The origin of Duella Dent, the Joker's daughter was a sad story and the trio's encounter with Red Son Superman was kind of nice. The other with Jason Todd facing the Crime Society of America was pretty bland. I liked the idea of the exploring alternate Earths, but what killed it to me is that it seemed like DC has been doing that for the last 5 years.
Also, I couldn't follow COUNTDOWN's numbering. One issue had giant numbers on the front, the other had titles like "Countdown to Mystery" and such.

TRINITY to me was a waste of time. The good thing about the first two weekly serieses was that they focused on less known and new characters.

Yet another series of Superman and Batman felt like overkill considering how many titles they already feature in.

My favorite was from the 90s the 'yellow triangle' Superman run. It was 4 titles but they integrated almost seamlessly.

I liked that era of Superman, as well.

For the poll I voted 52, although I almost didn't simply because the answer seems so obvious.
