For me, it's Simone. Secret Six is easily the best current series I pick up.

As much as I hate the generic vote, I have to say Geoff Johns. Greg Rucka is a close second, though.

Why is voting for Geoff generic?

As much as I like to criticize Morrison's writing I still have to say he's my "favorite" at DC right now.

Any project he's on I just have to give a look to.

Geoff Johns but I can't take his stories as single issues though. They have to be traded due to how he writes. Same went for Bendis at Marvel. Favorite over there but don't dare read his work unless it's collected and even then with him I have to have more then one to read at a time.

Grant Morrison is definitely my favorite. I think Geoff is great, but it takes more than one of his issues to really wow you.

I'm not usually one to ride the popular wave, but I have to go with Geoff Johns here. After All, he does wright (or started to write) most of the ongoing titles that I continue to read on a regular basis. Of all the writers on the list, he seems to be the one who's material is more consistently good, and he is pretty punctual. I would pick Tomasi next, as I enjoy reading his GLC, and I liked his Black Adam:The Dark Age. Honorable mention to Giffen for his Justice League/JLI.

I have to admit, I'm not super familiar with Grant Morrison's work, but I did read Final Crisis, and it didn't quite bump him up there for me. I thought it was ok, but to be honest, my favorite Final Crisis titles were the ones that Johns wrote, like Rogue's Revenge.

For right now I clicked Gail.

Johns is pretty solid and formulaic, and I like most of the things he does (GL and JSA) and would be my pick, but Secret Six is a title I just recently caught up on for the current run. Grant would have been m choice a year ago for what he was doing. The reasons I voted for S6 over the other ones polled for is the fact it is the little book that could. It doesn't need to tie into every big event with all-star characters that everyone is familiar with. Since it is basically a group of morally ambiguous anti-heroes trying to do the right thing, it is more than entertaining in its own right. S6 offers moments of callous bad-assery and mixes in clever snark while a dysfunctional team tries to be functional together when interacting. Other than the brief tie-in to other stories going on previously like Villains United and BfTC, this title can stay away from big events and still blaze its own little trail. It has plenty of action, humor, and steady pacing for B-listers that readers might normally pass over as the stars within it.

The poll offers a good variety, but as far as what I'm digging right now, this book is on the top for me. I passed over this series and writer many times initially when going to my local comic shack, thinking "oh hey, that looks cool" and wondered why others were raving about it on forums. It isn't perfect by any means on all fronts, but it shows a little corner not often seen while bigger things play out on a more global scale in the DCU. Somehow, Secret Six remains cool without trying too hard to do so, among other writers listed in the above poll where the enjoyability feels a little imposed . In comics, where everything is somewhat cliche and overused, this title and Gail's writing makes me want to read more each month, without stepping in foot prints for stories I have read before in some fashion on another book.

Hell, it even made me pick up some old BoP and the recent WW arc. Just to check out what else she has worked on.

Although I have enjoyed the first few issues of R.E.B.E.L.S. with Tony Bedard, it still needs a few more issues for me to judge. Tomasi has done a good job as a pickup writer for several titles, but I still need to read more of his previous work. Rucka is good as well, but I need to see/read more from him before I can critique as well. I have nothing against Winick or Busiek, as I haven't really read anything that either have written lately to serve as a basis for opinion. Robinson made me want to read more about the Superman family during the New Krypton arc, while I thoroughly enjoyedhow what he has written for Bats in Face the Face and for Supes in his own title in recent memory.

|All of the authors have their own unique style given the characters they are writing, but Simone is the one that currently holds my interest, despite not being a fan beforehand.

Aside for Winnick and Robinson, I like all of the writer's listed (in terms of more current work - both of these have done good stuff in the past) but Grant Morrison still takes it for me. Geoff Johns and Gail Simone would be my choice for runners up.

None of the above.
My vote goes to Paul Dini.

Peter Milligan but he's working with Vertigo these days.

Without Peter Milligan, my vote for another postmodernist writer like Milligan, Grant Morrison.

No Palmiotti/Gray? It's not like Jonah Hex isn't one of DC's best titles or anything.

Gotta go Johns, his charaterization and if they have him retcon anything make him stand out.

Geoff Johns has gotten me back into comics in the last five years and I read anything he writes in the DCU. Outstanding work, definitely one of my favorite writers ever.

Geoff Johns, primarily for his run on Flash.
Really enjoyed it.
