Is there any actor or actress that you are such a fan of that you have or would purchase dvd's of all their movies, even if some of them aren't necessarily that good?

As an example, I own every single movie that River Phoenix was in. There isn't a single one that I think is a bad movie.

I'm only loyal to people I actually know.

And Peter David.

Nah. Having an actor I like in a flick increases my chances of watching it, but doesn't guarantee it.

I usually give the benefit of the doubt to John Cusak. But not all the time.

I like Christian Bale, but I don't want to buy Little Women and I have to be EXTREMELY drunk in order to buy Reign of Fire.

Larry David. He's not in much, so it's pretty easy to see all of his work.

Lewis Black.

Christopher Walken or Natalie Portman being in the movie will almost always guarantee that I will at least rent it.

Christopher Walken.

Agreed. My mother is a big fan, so every birthday/Christmas/mother's day I sneak her a Walken film. Is "The Deer Hunter" a good mother's day gift? At my house it was.

I also think it's pretty hard to go wrong with a Denzel Washington or Tom Hanks film. They're always at least better than average, but they're usually mindblowingly good. "DaVinci Code" was the first time I was let down by a Tom Hanks film since... "Joe Vs. The Volcano", I guess.

Okay, maybe not all Hanks stuff, anyway.

Do classic film stars count? The only reason I don't own every Carey Grant movie is because they aren't all out on DVD, and I own every James Dean movie, but that wasn't very hard to do. They came in a set. There are a lot of other classic actors and actresses that even if I don't make it a point to own every movie they are in, I certainly try to see every movie they are in.

I tend to have actor of modern actors for a while before I grow out of them. During college, I was all about Ewan McGregor, but not so much anymore even though I still like him. I love Hugh Jackman now, but a girl's gotta draw the line at owning Van Helsing.

I can't imagine myself ever wanting to track down every DVD featuring a particular actor, but if I decided to do this, I would feel very safe getting every movie with Daniel Day-Lewis.

I tend to do this with Directors or Writers more than actors...

Yeah he gets my vote too. He's made a few bombs along the way. But he did give us THE JACKBULL , HIGH FIDILITY and GROSSE POINT BLANK . So I'll always give him the chance to wow me.

Cusack's best movie is The Grifters.

I think Siskel used to have a rule about Harry Dean Stanton.

I love that he played a guitar playing Lion in the Care Bears movie while on smack.

I think I'd happily watch anything with James Mason. It's the voice.

Fantastic flick.
I know, I still love it even if he hated it.

But some of the best are where the actors did not have a good experience, like Blade Runner.

I didn't know he hated making it. Pity. It's possibly the best comedy of the 80's.

Well, Blade Runner's only good when you take out the stuff Ford hated about making it, like that godawful narration.

On the other hand, are there any movies that you will flat out REFUSE to watch if a certain person is in them?

I used to be that way with Sean Penn. *shudder*

No I don't. Even actors whose work I generally enjoy have been in turds of films. I'm not a completest when it comes to anything...comics, movies, what have you.

Tom Cruise. I had to be talked into seeing Tropic Thunder because of his cameo.

Yeah, apparently, he refuses to even talk about it. He only mentions his hate of it occassionally.

Well, Blade Runner's only good when you take out the stuff Ford hated about making it, like that godawful narration.
but he also apparently had a horrible time making the movie as well. didn't get along with the director, etc...

But some of the best are where the actors did not have a good experience, like Blade Runner.

Apparently, Ingrid Bergman hated making Casablanca because the writers never gave her a good read on the character. When she asked who Ilsa really loved, the writers said "play it both ways."

And Richard Gere and Debra Winger famously hated each other while filming "An Officer and a Gentleman."

Both excellent movies.

I don't think I have much in the way of actor loyalty, no.

I actually can't think of one offhand. There might be some that make it very likely I'll see the movie in theaters or rent it, but none that would guarantee a purchase. That's always based on what I think of the movie itself.

Not me... but in my household... Ewan Macgregor guarantees a movie ticket/DVD purchase, because of my ladylove.

Oh, never heard that one! Interesting.....
