So it's come to this - shameless self-promotion. I've started a travel blog for geeks called Geekations. Basically, I'm recording the geekier side of places, mostly in video travelogues. So far I've got DubipR helping me out with it. We've got to videos up so far - an intro and a trip to the Santa Monica Pier. Pretty soon I should have our trip to Chinatown up, and we're taking a trip to Vegas real soon.

That's the plan. I've got footage for a new episode that I need to edit together already, and then heading for Vegas next week for even more footage.


And if there's a geek mecca in your neck of the woods you'd like to write about, I'd love to post it.

Heh, now you know not to go on the shitty roller coaster. Carousel is dirt cheap, though. I forget exactly how much, but under a buck a ride.


That, and Rambo game. It's weird, it goes backwards in time. Starts with Rambo III. Got to First Blood Part II on a credit, though.

i never did go on any of those rides. just like mission beach, never been on that coaster either. i will check out the arcade though, been a while since i have seen an arcade game newer than sf2 turbo. i think your blog forgot the most important thing though, a review of the lcs:biggrin:

last time i was in santa monica was during that national go topless day, purely by coincidence.

Which actually might be closing up. Or at least that was the rumor I heard about Hi-De-Ho. In any event, we're saving comic shop reviews for their own separate thing, after we've got some standard shows done.

StoneGold asked me to come along on the ride because, frankly it sounded like a blast. Think of this as "Frommers for Geeks" We want everyone to be a correspondant in your neck of the woods and tell us what's a cool geek site; be it a comic shop, a location used for a film...anything that appeals to the geek in all of us.

We look forward to your comments and hopefully entries.

they make a lot of movies out here but nothing much to write about. any time someone is lost in some desert hellhole, that's my home baby!

D'oh! We could have used a third person. Part of why we got caught on Fremont Street when we tried to do a Street Fighter II bit.

I just stayed on the state line Monday and Tuesday and had no intentions to go to Vegas. I'm shocked that you didn't plug in the Arcade at Buffalo Bills where they not only have every Marvel vs. Capcom game made, but they also have the Punisher side scroller beat 'em where you can be the Punisher or NIck Fury.
