...Trinity #52 came out this week, and as this was starting as I was just getting up and moving after losing my right leg, this series will always stand out in my memories. How did the rest of you view this latest in DC's efforts to get us hooked on a weekly series? Was it worth it? Was it at least better than Countdown? Was it at least better than Sonic Disruptors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_Disruptors)?

UPDATE: Dammit! The post choked on letting me set up a poll. Ah well, here's the poll options I had in mind, based on the comments made on other threads relating to Trinity: But now it's working again. Go figger.

...For the record, my choice was 1). When the whole story is looked at in one sitting, it's one hell of a read with enough interwoven subplots to make Grant Morrison jealous enough to crap his pants because the subplots *all* *made* *sense*! This is more proof that Kurt needs to write the next "big event", which as most people hope will be the one that makes sense out of Final Crisis, brings Bruce Wayne back as Batman, restores the New Gods back to their original Fourth World versions, and restores both Ted Kord and J'Onn J'Onzz back to life once and for all.

Bought seven issues, read three, was not impressed and never went back. I've so over this deification of "The Trinity" I can't even tell you.

How much of this did Bagely draw? He couldn't of drawn all 52 issues of it or did he draw the covers. He's a fast artist, but not that fast.

Bagley drew the lead story in every issues. 12 pages a week.

I thought this series was great. A fun, old-fashioned type super-hero story that wasn't trying to load up on meta-anything. Bagley on lead and a great roster of artists on the back-up feature.

I've tried looking at this series off and on as it went on but there was just so much that I can't really be sure if I liked what I read or not. Glad I didn't buy issues though as I'm waiting for this to be put out in TPB form. However I get the strong feeling this entire story really could have been and should have been done in half the issues it took up and maybe even less without all the extra padding.

This is the problem that I have with long series. If the series has to run this long then so be it. That's the nature of a long series. However the story should happen to run 52 issues if it's that long not be made to fit 52 issues. People like to bring up the X-men Age of Apocalypse storyline and the Phoenix Saga storyline as very good long running storylines. From what I remember reading they weren't planned to be that long. There was no artificial number of issues that needed to be filled. As the stories were told they happen fill the number of issues they did. That is why they were so good because the story was able to be told at a natural pace. They weren't trying to spread and drag out the story to reach some predetermined number. Granted though I'm sure they had a idea of how long it might take due to plotting but I doubt they said this going to take 20 issues we have to make it last that long or cut it down to be that long.

Have to disagree regarding AofA. As far as I remember, it was always designed to span all the X-titles, and for each title to run 4 issues each. Furthermore, each X-book followed it's own group of characters in that world. It wasn't a continuous story running through each relevant title. It wasn't really a long form story in the same sense as Trinity is. If anything, it's more akin to Seven Soldiers. A series of interrelated mini's that can be read on their own.

But the space in the backups was used for the main story.
