Posted this first on the rama, but got no responses so far so thought I'd try here.
I've been reading through all the X-Men stuff since Messiah CompleX, and am trying to sort it out in some kind of reading order. The writers aren't making it easy. Everyone seems to have included Rahne as part of X-Force whenever they've had a cameo in other books, despite that she never really spent much time fighting with the team. Kyle and Yost refer to the Secret Invasion aftermath early on in X-Force, when the Invasion can't have happened until much later. Bunch of little continuity glitches like that. But here's my best-I-can-do-in-10-minutes-when-I'm-tired timeline. Tell me where I'm wrong and why -- I'm sure I'm overlooking both obvious and not-so-obvious stuff -- so I can whip this thing into shape. Thanks!
X-Men: Messiah CompleX
Wolverine: Get Mystique! -- right after Messiah CompleX
X-Factor: The Only Game in Town (28-32) -- also pretty much right after Messiah CompleX. The rest of this won't be concerned with X-Factor since the book jumps the months to Secret Invasion and then is off doing pretty much its own thing.
X-Force: Angels & Demons (1-6)
X-Men: Legacy – Divided He Stands (208-210) -- Not really linked to anything else, just kind of floating sometime not too long after Messiah CompleX
Uncanny X-Men: Divided (495-499) -- few weeks after Messiah CompleX. Ends with the X-Men welcomed into SF.
~1 Month after Messiah CompleX
Wolverine: Manifest Destiny -- There seem to be two or three months in between Uncanny: Divided and Uncanny: SFX, between when the X-Men first go to SF and when they officially open up as a mutant sanctuary. This is very early in that time.
The Last Defenders -- Guess this has to be floating somewhere in here, and which is also in the gap between the Slott and David Shulkies.
X-Force: Old Ghosts (7-10)
X-Force: Who the Hell is Eli Bard? (11)
X-Men: Legacy – Sins of the Father (211-214) -- Sunspot's still Lord Imperial of Hellfire Club
Young X-Men: Final Genesis (1-5) -- This one takes place over 3+ weeks. The main story, after the gathering-the-team and the 3 weeks of training, takes place here.
Young X-Men: The Y-Men, etc -- All seems to happen pretty quickly after the first story arc
~2 months after Messiah CompleX
Wolverine: Origins – The Deep End -- Sometime after Wolvey: Manifest Destiny
Wolverine: Origins – Son of X -- Directly follows The Deep End
X-Men: Legacy – Walkthrough (215-216) -- The Origins and Legacy issues occur pretty much simultaneously, both leading directly into Original Sin. Sunspot's defected from the Hellfire Club at this point, so this takes place after Young X-Men #6-10 or so.
X-Men: Original Sin
Wolverine: Origins – The Family Business -- Pretty much right after Original Sin, though there's some serious time compression going on at the very end of the issue. ;)
Astonishing X-Men: Ghost Box (1-6) -- not really linked to anything, its floating sometime after Uncanny: Divided and before Uncanny: SFX, probably closer to the end of that period.
X-Men: Pixies and Demons -- The FCBD issue. Best read right before SFX.
~4 months after Messiah CompleX
Uncanny X-Men: SFX (500-503) -- SF publicly and officially becomes a haven for mutants.
Cable: Homefront (6) -- Has to be after SFX because of the crib.
Cable: Waiting for the End of the World (7-10) -- One of those things where Rahne was shown as part of X-Force when, whoops, she was out doing her own thing.
X-Force: Suicide Leper -- Again, despite references to H.A.M.M.E.R., this still seems like it fits best before Secret Invasion, except it also seems like it wants to fall in after Uncanny: Lovelorn sometime, and it can't go both places. . . Any ideas? Judging from Sooraya's talks with Pierce it's probably before YXM conclusion (unless after they let him go in YXM they recapture him and she still continues to spend time with him in the X-brig?)
X-Force / Cable: Messiah War -- immediately after Suicide Leper, wherever that fits.
Young X-Men: End of Days (11-12)
~5 months after Messiah CompleX
Secret Invasion
Uncanny: Lovelorn -- Shortly after Secret Invasion, since that Dark Cabal meeting takes place right in the middle of this story. Scott mentions Cable's been gone 4 months, but X-Factor has Secret Invasion 5 months after Messiah CompleX. Go figure.
X-Infernus -- Not too long before New Mutants.
Wolverine: Origins – Weapon XI -- Shortly after Secret Invasion, hours after the Dark Avengers lineup is revealed.
New Mutants -- ???
X-Men: Legacy – Salvage -- Months after Secret Invasion.
Also haven't gotten around to reading NYX: No Way Home or Worlds Apart yet. Does NYX tie-in to the other X-Men goings on at all? Is World Apart before or after Secret Invasion? Has to be before New Mutants since Nezhno is back by then. . .
