I've mentioned my daughter Ashley a few times over the 14+ years that I've been hanging out around CBR. (She's written for CBR in the past, covering the last few Comic-Cons) Last week, she graduated (with Honors) from San Diego State with a BA in English Lit (minor in Film, TV and New Media Communications).

Now she's looking for an internship, preferably something in publishing, editorial, or some related field. A paid internship would be ideal, as would one in an interesting place.

She's applied for one of the four that are currently open at Wired Magazine, but we expect that those will be pretty competitive, so she's looking for some alternatives.

Any suggestions? Contacts? She knows comics (in self-defense, mostly) but her real interest is music and other pop culture stuff.

Try every company she likes the output of - magazine, tv station, music station/company (marketing dept.s do a fair bit of copy etc).

I mean, everywhere takes interns!

If you want to ruin her life forever, find her an internship at an advertising agency.

Like publishing is any better. When was the last time you bought a magazine?

I'd make a joke about one without naked broads, but really, who buys physical porn these days?

She's seen the inside of enough of those growing up, dropping into my various offices. And she loathes 99.94% of all advertising just on principle.

Jim,
I don't know of any specific ones but bookjobs.com is a great place to hunt down internships and assistantships. Here's their internship page: http://www.bookjobs.com/internships.php
