Since I got back into comics not too long ago, I just now noticed the Resistance comic book published by DC. In case you do not know, Resistance is a video game on the PlayStation 3. I began to think about all the past and current video game comic books and a thought came to me: What video games would you like to see as a comic book? I compiled a list of what I would like to see, but I would like to hear your thoughts. I know some of these may have had a couple issues made, but I would like to possible these games as an ongoing title.
Killzone: I do not know if any of you follow video games, but Killzone 2 was a big release for the PS3. I highly enjoyed this game and think that it would make for a great title if the art (and writing) was/were done well. It would have to be a mature title, and I would think Vertigo would be a good fit for the title. I really would not care for this comic having the current in-game protagonist or side-characters; I would rather see this title as a villain book based in Helghan and their attempts to rule over all; the crowning image for this game was the Helghast soldier, so I think that should be the main focus, rather than a lame Earthly hero. Tomas "Sev" Sevchenko was not that great of a character in the game. It would not even need to stick to the cannon of the game; I just think the Helghast soldier looks so damn cool!
Ninja Gaiden: I would love to see this hack and slash title! With good art and writing, this title could be a hit. The protagonist, Ryu Hayabusa, is simply an awesome character. There is a lot of story that could be told with this character/story, and you could even get your samurai fix with this bad boy. I am not sure if Ninja Gaiden has ever had a comic run, but I know there have been some web comics out there.
BioShock: This is one of my favorite shooters of all time. The art is beautifully filled with horror and vintage themes. I would love to see even a mini-series based in Rapture. If you play video games and have not played this, you are really missing out. I would love to see all the Big Daddies and Little Sisters in the pages of a comic. Also, like Killzone, I see this book as being a somewhat villain title without a real protagonist; Earth and their disapproval with Rapture would be the biggest issue, and they would constantly be trying to take Rapture down. The book would take place in the 60s/70s.
Well, what do you think?
