We haven't seen the Eradicator since right before Infinite Crisis. As of this point, we're still not sure how the character, one of the concepts most tied to the MOS vision of Krypton, can be reconciled with the modern day "mash-up" take on the planet and its culture. Besides a few references to "Eradicator squads," he's the only prominent member of the Superman family from that era to be MIA.

Yet now we have a long-running storyline with a planet full of Kryptonians: The perfect opportunity to revisit the character who was determined to preserve Kryptonian culture by any means necessary.

How would you reimagine the character to fit with the Johns/Robinson-era Krypton, yet in a way that would retain the majority of his past appearances (especially Reign Of The Supermen)? Or is he simply a concept that, in his prior state, is simply irreconcilable with the new status quo?

What exactly is contradictory about Eradicator and the current New Krypton?

Eradicator was an alien device co-opted by a Kryptonian (Kem-L). Look at Zod and his gang of Kryptonian Bullies. It doesn't exactly preclude the idea of someone on Krypton doing the same thing in the current slightly changed continuity.

And even if that's wrong, I just don't like Eradicator. He's been nothing but trouble for Superman. I'd rather not see him return.

There was talk of bringing him back, but the plans didn't pan out right. So they're on hold. Besides, he still fits in. He was last mentioned in "Tales Of The Sinestro Corps Presents: Cyborg-Superman". There are still Kryptonians who wear the Byrne style outfits, which we know belongs to the Science Guild. By and large, he still remains the same. Just that he took a different tact to keeping Krypton pure.

Now I don't read the book regularly anymore, but couldn't you reconcile the 'mash up' simply by saying the Eradicator was behind it in some way?

It appears to be an organic mesh-up.

Again I don't read the books anymore. Could you explain that?

It means that in Post "Infinite Crisis" continuity, Krypton's history has changed. There are now five guilds, each with its own job task and its own costume design. Each one is based off of a design used throughout Superman's published history. There's no story reason like the Eradicator did it. The story reason is that Krypton divided itself into guilds a number of years back. This is first hinted at in Superman #669, via a flashback. It is explored in greater detail in "World Of New Krypton".

Well Johns did a decent job for reimagining Brainiac. I think the Eradicator makes a pretty strong case as well to be reintrduced post New Krypton in various titles. I think Sterling Gates could write a decent arc exploring what he could be used for. Given the status quo change, I wouldn't be surprised if the Eradicator showed up in some form or another on New Krypton. It would be interesting to see his programming interact with a rebirth and resurgence of new culture, that lay dormant and relatively untouchable for his mission.

That story alone would hold my interest and be worth buying.

I'd be happy never to see the Eradicator again. After the Return of Superman story, he just got more and more unrecognizable. It had merged with that guy, and IIRC, had launched itself into space, when last we saw it. Good riddance.

The Eradicator and the whole Krypton kill-zone story was the worst idea since eliminating Superboy.

None of it need ever be seen or mentioned again.

I wouldn't mind seeing the Eradicator come back....in maybe...15 years or so. He's been out of the limelight for only a couple of years. Personally I'm not a big fan of the Eradicator. He reminds me of the early 90's Superman to the early 2000's which I'm not particularly fond of that era of Superman comics.
