It'd be funny if the other characters reacted with:"What? No way man. John Connor is a dick, always going on about his mommy saying he was special, Screw him, keep your heart".
Hahahaha that would be funny.
Nothing wrong with what happened in the end but it felt like everyone was waiting for Marcus to go take my heart, second chance bla bla...

well finally saw the movie.
I am happy they got the mood right...that was a big one for me. It felt post apocalyptic.
However, the story was kinda lame in some parts, especially near the end.
However, this film beats the crap out of transformers and then some in terms of quality and acting.
Afterall any movie with michael ironside at least gets a fighting chance:)
If they work on the script a bit, I really want to see a terminator 5 set in the dark future.
I wanna see john conner be the savior of humanity.
I wanna see reece's build up to being sent back in time.
I wanna see dark droids and an uphill battle that is epic.
and I wanna see this book read before they start

I wanted to like this movie so much. First two thirds were fun, didn't match up to the first two, but you just can't recreate the magic of the first two movies. I think the third act was horrible, but I really enjoyed Arnold's cameo. How much did they have to change cuz of the leak... just the ending? Because that ending was HORRIBLE. I thought Marcus was kinda cool but I was hoping for a bit more DEVELOPMENT with him. The scene where they reveal his cybernetic state was awesome to me, but I didn't feel like he was sacrificing much in the end. Blair disappears right when I was starting to like her. Kate Connor should've been in the movie for longer. I thought with Bale's outburst there would be more emotional scenes with her and John.
I DO want to see another Terminator movie, cuz the stuff that I didn't like about this movie was dead/blown up by the end of it. I wanna see Reese turn into the warrior he is in the first film... I feel like there's so much more of the future war for us to see.

I wonder how much of the Project Angel subplot was saved. I get the feeling they were originally Terminators like Marcus in that window and somehow it slipped through editing once the subplot was dropped.

I thought the action was great, but the plot kind of sucked. I'd still watch a sequel since it would be closer to an important event.

Just watched it... I liked it. It wasn't the first two films, but way better than the third.
That said, I also watched the director's cut, maybe the extra violence and Moon Bloodgood sideboob makes all the difference?

It was certainly well put together. McG certainly knows what he's doing when it comes to action. There are some great set pieces in this movie.
But the film completely fails to make itself necessary or a compelling new chapter in the overall story. If this had been a stand alone film without any ties to the previous Terminator films, maybe I'd feel different about it but the entire plot and virtually all the major characters rely upon our knowledge and affection for those previous films.

Are sequels ever "necessary"? And how many action movies are really all that "compelling"? Terminator: Salvation certainly wasn't a great movie, and it won't go down as a classic like the first two (but the odds of that happening were slim to begin with), but it succeeded pretty well as a film that set out to tell a story and give viewers a good time. That's not such a bad thing, really.

John Connors gets hit in the chest by a Terminator and he gets up with a bruise. The rescue helicopter arrives at Skynet central, and no drones attack it. The HK destroys a human base, and instead of executing the humans, it places them in a cage? Skynet allows Marcus to interface with it, and wonders why Marcus turns against it, when the AI describes it as a machine. I could go on. The action was rediculous.
I went in longing for a pre-Judgement day beggining, and the nuclear attack that follows and the reaction by the humans, and we got nothing. The was a scene from 2003, which meant nothing except introducing Marcus and the AI, then it jumped to 2018 and the war was well in swing. When are going to get the movie about Judgement day? And I'll say it again. How can Hunter Killers make a factory of Terminators if they don't have hands? They can't. Humans had to make the Terminators.
The HK destroys the humna base and takes himan prisoners b/c they were meant for manual labor, exxperimentation, reaplcement/infiltration units, provide skin for the T800's, and extermination
They can't do the effect that Judgement day had on the population, not directly at least, b/c it would take up to much space in a movie that was running long already. It might also throw th pacing off.
HK don't make factories, but when Skynet became self aware, it just took over your local car plant, and/or had human slave labor make the conversion where the machines couldn't. After two or three years, humans aren't necessary for plant conversion. And the machines can make more machines.

I really liked this film, i felt it was a love note to the first two Terminator Films and it was set up for the first film. I rank it 2nd out the four films, i didn't like the first one all that much. Way better then TF2:ROTF by a mile.
I liked the T-600 played by Brain Steele, almost took down that building by himself.

Finally watched it. It was a far cry from T2, but it was a fun, action packed flik. It got bogged down/cluttered/rushed in the 3rd act a bit, though.
