Yikes, that turned out to be one of our favorite cities ever!
First, the people were great, there was history and beautiful architecture everywhere, there were great restaurants, and man, we loved it!
We walked to the Bunker Hill Memorial, saw the church where the signal lanterns went up for Paul Revere, went whale watching, walked a bit of the freedom trail, saw the Aquarium, and did the duck boat tours, among lots of other stuff.
But the coolest thing is that we got to take a behind the scenes tour of the Boston Public Library, which felt like something right out of the Da Vinci Code. It was crazy! Michael Colford was our host, he works there, and invited us to the library conference in the first place, and man, we got to see John Adams private library, hand-powered printing presses from before movable type, and amazing murals that the public normally doesn't get to see.
Fantastic time. What a great city!

I love Boston so much! It is where I went to college. I lived in a dorm room right across the street fromt he Boston Commons where my grandparents met.
I loved going whale watching from the Aquarium. Nothing has the right to be that big!

I love Boston. I'm visiting again this weekend and I can't wait. I have some friends there too, and every time I go, I think about moving there.

We really loved it. What a gorgeous city, and how fun it was to have people point out things like,
"Oh, that's the first library in the country."
"That's the first restaurant in the country."
"Over there? That's the first hotel in the country."
Yeesh! Cool!

Glad you enjoyed our little town. (Yeah -- Boston wants to THINK it's a city; it's actually a small town with a thyroid condition!)
...So, does this mean that we can count on you coming back for another visit?

No love for Springfield?
Can't say I blame you.

My wife's from Colorado, and even after seven years of dating/marriage I still enjoy pointing to a building or home and saying "See that house? It's older than your state."
That library tour sounds great though, the Boston Athenĉum is another very cool library.

I have love for Red Rose pizza. Can't get pizza like that out in Boston.

Did you ever go out to Jacob Wirth's on Stuart Street?
Years ago, I had gone out on a date and had taken the lady to my favorite place in Chinatown (now sadly departed) and then to Jake's for coffee and dessert.
Later on, I was on the phone to my mother and was mentioning where we had gone and there was this momentary pause from the other end, then -- in this very far-away voice -- she asked, "...Do they still have that big carved wooden thing behind the bar...?"
Turns out that she and my dad had gone there when THEY were dating...!

Sometimes you just creep me the hell out. I still remember how you guessed the mall I worked in when I was in high school.
My freshman and Sophmore years I ived right near Beacon Street and Mass Ave, just down the road from Kenmore Square. My junion and senior years I lived on Beacon across the street from the Commons.

Doesn't sound familiar but it has been almost a decade since I have been there.
Man....I am home sick!

...And the Student Prince restaurant, as I mentioned in the "coming to Boston/Spiffield" thread...
...and Rein's Deli opened a branch in West Spiff, if you want the closest thing to New York deli-food this side of Far Rockaway...
Besides, look on the bright side...
...it's not Holyoke!
