I got a letter from my cable company a few days ago asking me to upgrade my broadband service from the Large service to Extra Large (10Mb to 20Mb) and it was meant to cost £4 extra rather than the standard £12 (meaning that I'd pay £29 per month for 20Mb) so I called them today and after the call centre dude typed wildly on his computer for a minute of two, I was told that I could actually get the upgrade for a mere £1.50 per month. I've heard other people being told that the £4 option is only available to customers on better packages and being refused the offer so I'm happy to get an even better deal. I have had good offers in the past and get various discounts and deals like an extra TV receiver for £5 and an £8.50 discount for taking a variety of services.
Virgin Media, who are the only big scale cable company in the UK are known for the bartering system they employ with their customers and many of the deals depend on current packages, offers and how long you've been with them as well as how promptly you pay your bills.
About 4 years ago, I went on to broadband for the first time with 1Mb which became 2Mb, I upgraded to 4Mb which became 10Mb and now I've upgraded to 20Mb.
How fast are the other YABSters connections? Do you have a beeping 56k modem or a super smooth 50Mb connection?
