Is this movie so bad it's good or is it just plain bad?

Totally and completely awesome. I still remember some of the song.
"They're radical, original, they'll send you to the principal, you can be a garbage pail kid!"

I haven't watched this movie in quite a few years. I do remember loving it and watching it many times.

I recently watched this film again and it's bad. Not so bad it's good. Just bad.

I agree with the Nostalgic critic, it's a dirty piece of crap. Nice avatar by the way, love Great Mouse Detective.

It committed the cardinal sin: It wasn't funny. Everything else could have been forgiven if it was funny, but it wasn't. It was painfully UNfunny.

.......... wonder how much Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist Art Spiegelman - creator of Maus - and the Garbage Pail Kids - made off it

GAH!!!!!!! I had successfully blocked, not only the memory of having seen the movie (in the theatre no less), but the memory that the movie even existed. Damn you for bringing it back into my memory!

Despite it's earnest, "it's okay to be you" plot, it still manages to be one of the least wholesome things offered as children's entertainment I've ever seen. And it's not just the bodily fluids and various gases, there's something about the dark cinematography and the creepy characters and the terrifying suits that adds a layer of awful ickiness to it. You'll feel kind of dirty after watching it, and not the good kind of dirty. The only things it succeeds at are being gross and disturbing, it definitely fails at being funny.

I loved the cards, they were very clever, but the movie is just a dark, dirty stain marking 1980s misery.

As a kid, I had a taped copy of Garbage Pail Kids on the same cassette as Mac and Me and Transformers: The Movie.

Had to forward through lots of crud to get to something watchable on that cassette.

Oh yeah, Mac and Me. Man, that was a pretty elaborate McDonald's commercial.

I'm wondering what in the world they were thinking with the whole concept of the State Home For the Ugly.

I remember loathing it, and I liked some pretty crappy things at the time

At conventions, when Doug Walker is asked what the worst movie he's ever reviewed on his Nostalgia Critic show is, he almost always answers, without hesitation, Garbage Pail Kids. He goes on in more detail in his commentary track. The Nostalgia Critic's opening of the video pretty much reflects Doug's real feelings: This was VERY hard for him to sit through, and he wasn't sure just how he could make fun of a train wreck such as this.

But he managed
