I particularly enjoyed the episodes that focused on Blade's origins (Though they're not in continuity with the movies). Especially Stepping Razor.
What struck me though was how weak Blade was when compared to the Snipes version. Though I heard that the negative effects of the Daystar Virus had something to do with that.
Not a bad series in all. A pity it wasn't continued for a 2nd season.

The series was in continuity with the movies in that it took place after the 3rd movie? I didn't know that I thought the series was pretty much standalone...

According to an interview with Goyer, the Daystar Virus has only a localized effect. Blade's strength was degraded because of that.

And apparently his actual martial arts skills/knowledge were degraded because of that too. ;)

I think that was because Sticky Jones wasn't well versed at the start of the series. But as the episodes went on the quality of his fights became better.

Oh that was definitely that case, it was just always something that bothered me throughout the series. They did get better... but were still lacking IMO.

I was less than impressed with the vampires. A little girl and a dork? Anne Rice did a better job.
I really enjoyed the series but was surprised that they didn't renew it. Guess ratings weren't good enough. Kind of reminds me of what happened to the Mortal Kombat TV series on TNT.
I'm anxiously awaiting for the blu ray version of the first two films though. Any word?

Why was it called the Blade TV series? he was hardly there.
That cop lady was in more scenes.

I loved the show. It started off weak, but got very good at the end of it. Kirk Wagner and the guy who played Shen were excellent. Neil Jackson, Marcus from the show, became one of my favorite actors after seeing him in Blade and some other films (The Passage, Push).
Good show, I need to get the DVD.

I enjoyed PUSH a great deal. Neil Jackson has the air of playing arrogent bad guys. Though he does make Marcus somewhat symphathethic is oms episodes.
Did anyone anticipate that final twist with Chase?

I don't even remember what the twist was....
Oh and thanks Tuan for opening the Mortal Kombat wound... that should improved almost every week, and the finale was a killer cliffhanger... :(

I really began to hate the series towards the end, it got real sleazy like it was trying too hard to be interesting to people that stumbled onto the show.

True. But I suspect that was because she was more flawed and human. Blade suffers a little from his sheer badassery. There's only so much you can do with him because he's not allowed to be anything but supremely hardcore. He shows up, kicks ass, makes a pun at the expense of the vampire he's killing, and that's about it. Krista, the asian dude, even the villain were allowed to be much more flawed and human.

I disagree. What part of rambo did you like the part where he was hunting cops or the part where he rambled on and broke down? This should have been the first part of rambo, with quips and vampires.

Blade's fight in the TV series were much more back and forth(and he struggled with many opponents at times) than in the movies(obviously)... he was definitely severely lacking in badassery IMO.

He wasn't the combat god he was in the movies, but he was still basically as flawless and inhuman as your typical Steven Seagal character. Testosterone made flesh. Krista got more air-time because Krista was(ironically) much more human.

Actually in thinking about some of Seagal's recent direct to DVD movies I think Seagal's characters lately have been MORE flawless than Blade. ;)

He's a great actor (and a good musician too, as I found out recently). I would love to see him get more lead roles.
The Chase twist was a bit of a surprise, but it worked. The last episode was excellent on all counts.
Blade did come off as being a bit too perfect at first, but he definitely got some good story lines as the show went on. The Steppin Razor episodes were great examples of that.

I suspect Chase's turn was because of Marcus's new favour of Krista.
She seemed to be a loyal follower of his cause earlier.
The concept of House Leichem and the "Blood Bath" Ritual were great ideas. Originally they were planning to follow up on them in Season 2..

It's was somewhat a continuation of the movie with some changes. It's been canceled for a while now.

Agreed. The second season looked so promising. Whatever would happen between Krista and Marcus, Blade and Shen rebuilding their operations, and Marcus on the run, fighting the purebloods. IIRC, the creators said that Chase and Sands would create a new house, and Moon Knight would show up. It would have indeed been awesome.
