would a spiderman live action series work, like how smallville somehow works. I'm not sure if it would work. Course if it did work would people watch?

I definitely think a live action Spidey would work. I think if given decent writers and budget it would be a hit.
The only reason they haven't done it yet is they are still milking it in the movies

They made one in the 80's. It sucked pretty bad but I think it would work today.

This is just a what if here, but if they do go with a live action series now who would be good for peter parker/spiderman, mary jane etc? I don't think they'd use movie stars for a tv series, but then again I could be wrong.

Personally I would go with unknowns as Peter or MJ (though I would hold off on having MJ show up right away) but get fairly well known actors as Aunt May, Uncle Ben (for the first episode), J. Jonah Jameson, and the guest starring villians.

The problem with this logic is that Smallville doesn't work.
Hasn't for 7 or 8 years now.
But could "they" make a Spider-man show as good as Smallville? Yes. Retarded monkeys could make that.

I actually think Spider-Man is better suited for a Smallville-like series than Superboy/man is.

SFX being what it is now, a live-action Spider-man series would be pretty cool.
Depends. TV audiences are tricky. Keeping them interested is always a problem for any series, nevermind the limited audience of comic book fans.

I'd love to see a Green Lantern TV show.

that WOULD be cool!
but I just see too many problems with FX budgets, etc. :frown: I mean, are they grounded on Earth, or is it in space? And these are not normal humans in extraordinary circumstances, nor extraordinary beings in normal circumstances, the GL's are extraordinary in extraordinary circumstances. I just see too much for a tv series to handle.

I wonder what "Gotham" would have been like if they'd stayed with Batman isntead changing it to Superman? Batman has so many cool villians to work with.

I'd still like to see them spin the JLAers from Smallville into Young Justice.

I think that Runaways would make for a fantastic live action TV series. It wouldn't necessarily need to have a massive budget and I think it could potentially be a huge hit with a teen/young adult audience, although obviously with appeal for an older demographic as well.

Daredevil, yes. Spider-Man, no. The effects in the Spidey movies are still damn expensive, even when they don't look all that great. And I just don't think the character and his support cast is that well suited for episodic hour-long stories. The energy just wouldn't be there.

Agreed. Spider-Man has been done to death. Let some of the more interesting but less popular characters have a turn. And Runaways would be a phenomenal series to start with.

It would depend upon the comic property & the budget.
Generally, I think mainstream comic superhero series wouldn't work (e.g. Lois & Clark) but a different take on them, like Smallville where they concentrate on the formative years rather than epic battles & adventures work better.
Also, more offbeat/quirky stuff would probably translate better like much of the Vertigo line (Fables, Sandman, etc.).
I would like to see a different take on Batman like Gotham Central or a Young Bruce Wayne (globe-trotting to pick up his bat-skills).
That being said, a Question series based on Dennis O'Neill's legendary run would be awesome!
