Its a Christopher Claremont circle jerk. It is starting from after X-Men 3 as that is when he originally quit the X-Men. It's in its own seperate reality.

It's not set in the past, it's set in the present. It's a reboot/retcon without actually rebooting/retconning the 616/main X-Men continuity. It's like a WHAT IF? story or (too a much lesser extent) the Ultimate line of books.

It is not part of the 616 continuity. But it can be whatever you want it to be. If you like it enough, it can be THE X-Men for you or it can be another What If? Marvel's version of All-Stars (like DC's Superman and Batman treatment).

The last time I had a CC title on my LCS subscription list was with New Excalibur (hey! it had its bright spots!). Love the premise, love the cast, and when CC is on, it could be on hell of a read. Only other new title I look more forward to pulling is Gotham Sirens.
