Now that the NM have their own book again

whats gonna happening to the Young X-men are their plans for them to get their own book again or are they gonna fade in to obscurity to be used as Cannon fodder?

the latter would suck considerign these kids Beat Nimrod, the purifiers, Belasco , and Saved the X-men's collective asses from the Marauders

Probably the same thing that happened to Generation X.

You've perhaps heard of Generation X?

Or, well, maybe you haven't. Question answered.

Considering the failure of Young X-Men, the kids almost certainly won't get a new book anytime soon. However, Pixie, X-23, and Elixir all have regular roles and over time I'm sure the others will make their way into other books. And they'll continue to do cameos in, well, everything. The fanbase is still large enough and loyal enough to make it worth while, and the current status quo allows for easy cameos.

Rockslide, Dust, and Anole will be incorporated.

The rest will become answers to trivia questions.

Considering only M really went onto a main X-book after Gen-X, i think the NX are doing pretty well. X-23, Elixir, Pixie are all regulars, and i can see Anole Dust and Rockslide continuing to feature.

I suspect that, over time, they'll continue to get appearances on Uncanny. Though some might end up making the move X-Force, where Kyle anmd Yost can keep using the characters they still had ideas for.

It is such an incredible waste. The X-Editors belief that total X-Line shakeups every 18 months are such a great idea screwed over New X-Men. I so don't understand why they axed what was (At the time) the best selling X-Men satelite title. Such a stupid idea,

Yeah X-23, Elixir, Pixie... All doing well.

I just want to see more of Anole, Hellion and Surge.
Also, continued cameos for the rest of the kids would be a nice treat throghout the X-books as well.

none of you have addressed the most pivotal character to come out of any X-book.

what about Loa?!

They'll wait a while and relaunch a new x-men/young x-men type book again...

Only this time they need a decent writter and artist, bam...problem solved.

They will be used as support characters for everyone else since you have such a breadth of personalities and powersets. Also they are really pushing for these guys to be the generation that the universe craps on the most.

They wont be completely forgotten, because of Pixie, X-23, and Elixir. Anole, Rockslide and Dust will most likely get the most cameos in other books (as seen in New Mutants where Anole and Rockslide were the stars). And the rest will get occasional cameos in Uncanny for now.

Hopefully when Carey moves Rogue and Gambit to San Fran, we'll see some of them in Legacy. He's said he likes the kids, so here's hoping!

Who knows what will happen down the line. Look at Warpath now. He's got a leading role in an amazing X-Book, and before then he was an X-Man. And that kinda came outa nowhere when Brubaker started his run. PAD is writing an incredible book with B and C list characters in it. I'm confident that the NXM wont be forgotten completely.

They've got a ways to go. I'm sure Marvel can do it eventually, but so far they haven't been through much the earlier classes haven't also.

The New X-Men were a satelite book that didn't matter. They didn't save the X-Men from the Maurders. They may have participated, but they didn't save anyone. They were bratty and whiney and now they can't do anything for themselves. They need to get jobs and quit mooching off the X-Men.

Pre-Kyle and Yost I'd be tempted to agree with you. But seriously, New X-Men was the standout satellite title before Messiah Complex. Their stories could be ignored by the core books to an extent, but the continuity and tone were, in many ways, far more like the X-Men than the X-Men titles have become in recent years.

Fans now won't accept a book which doesn't feature the characters they like. If Marvel ever tried to relaunch the title, it would be savaged online and the sales wouldn't be strong enough to make it worth their while. The characters will gradually fade out, especially once Marvel start bringing characters like Psylocke, Jean Grey, Kitty Pryde back to the main titles.

I hope they relaunch it, with the REAL team. Not Anole and other shit characters.

Surge had an appearance in Uncanny X Men recently. And some of them might turn up in the New Mutants book, given their connection to Magik/Illyana.

On the other hand...well, as others have noted just look what happened to the luckless Gen X members. Apart from Jubilee and Monet have ANY of them been seen again in a major capacity?

Banshee - Had a stint in Uncanny, then died in Deadly Genesis
Emma - Starring in X-Men
Monet - Starring in X-Factor
Chamber - Was an X-Man, was in Weapon X, now is Apoca-like, was in New Warriors
Husk - Was an X-Man, now very rarely seen (but she is in San Fran)
Skin - Dead
Jubilee - Depowered, seen every now and then, star of New Warriors (not saying much...)
Synch - Never made it out..

Three of them are dead. Two are starring places. Two WERE being used (not the way we'd like though) very recently, now its unknown what will happen to them. And one makes random cameos every now and then. Not so great I guess.

I think its safe to assume Marvel will relaunch the book soon didnt Nick Lowe say that the end of young x-men set things up for a later story or sumink to that effect. I personally want to see Surge, Hellion, Mercury, Rockslide, Anole and Pixie on a team and have them maybe train the younger class.

They have alot of potential and with the right creative team would be a one of the best books going.

Plus the kids havent done to bad three ongoings totalling roughly 76 issues thats 13 New Mutants, 46 New X-Men, 12 Young X-Men, 4 Hellions Mini and The Year Book Special, thats roughly the same as Gen X in terms of issues. Plus apperences in Uncanny, X-Men, Astonishing, X-Force and now New Mutants (again lol).

Heres to a new book that will surpass the 50 issue mark (dreaming i know lol)

Banshee and Emma don't really count as they were already well known characters before Gen X. I meant people like Chamber, Skin etc.

But yeah...not comforting, is it? Although Elixir is getting regular use over in X Force at the moment, so that's something.

And Chris Yost said Elixir is only going to get better!

The new "young" X-Men were good back in the "old" days, when there were enough powered mutants around at the school for rivalries among the various young squads. Most notable was the bad blood between Emma's Squad (the Hellions II, what else?) and Dani's New Mutants. I realize that there may have been too many mutants around at that point, but what was done to the young X-Men, even after M-day was harsh. Not even the X-Men themselves were put through as much death and destruction, all in a relatively short amount of time. And then they were basically "dumped" by the X-Men. Reminds me of that old catchphrase, "Welcome to the X-Men...", only this time many of them DIDN'T survive the experience. That being said, I do think that Cyclops intends to do right by these children. They'll even be on various missions with the X-Men, and possibly the New Mutants, bad blood or not.
