I don't know, it sounds like a good idea to me. At the very least I have to applaud Marvel for attempting to get new readers from a difference audience. A lot of rappers were comic fans as kids, and many use characters in their lyrics (especially guys like the Wu Tang Clan, and Big Punisher's stage name is directly after the Marvel character). When you think of it, stage names themselves are like superhero code names.
Hopefully, some new readers to the online format will be drawn in by the XXL tie-in. My only question is why an all-print version of the story was not published- it seems like Eminem collectors will want a single volume story to buy and frame, similar to the way that Obama collectors were able to get copies of the Savage Dragon and Spider-man comics.

It probably will be at some point, that seems to be the standard for Marvel's stories that debut on their digital comics site.
ugh. reason 11343153742451412323345346 to hate the big two.
"yo i'm eminem, i have a totally gangster ass crew, i me and Barracuda freestyled together in the streets, bee. i dont run away from nobody! hood for life!"
this tragic facade of hip hop cred is crumbling around mr. mathers. this is the worst media attention-grab i've seen since Lindsay Lohan started licking carpet for the papparazzi.

Limp-wristed/'gangsta' gun hold for Punisher? What did readers do to deserve this kind of punishment?

The real question really is: is this going to be more bizare than the Punisher/Archie crossover in the ninties?

You know, I laughed out loud from this comment until I opened up the article myself and said WTF also.

Why? I hope it ends with Feminem getting his head blown off by Castle.

yeah MF DOOM goes all out with the Dr. Doom persona. He's even went as far as to have Doom bots perform at concerts lol.

Good, I'll get it then.
It's by Fred Van Lente, who's never disappointed me before, so I am sure -- despite having no interest at all in Eminem, and very very little in Punisher -- that I will enjoy it. Once it's all printed on paper, I mean.

I read it, it sucked. But oddly enough it was not the worst thing I've read but it still sucked.

Yep, it sucked. The art was good, The story was just trying to say, Look at Eminem, he is so badass he killed Barracuda and the Punisher thinks he is cool. The parent council calling a hit on Eminem made me grin though. Why send a dangerous and ridiculously expensive merc against a punk ass rapper (As Barracuda called him)? Why not just stage a drive by or something? And why did Barracuda just let him walk away when he saw that the ice was safe enough for him to walk and find help (Then again, Shady apparently preffers to risk a fight with a Green Berret who isn't smart enough to dodge a freaking electric Saw instead of fight it with a machete). It was good for a free comic though.

Quoted for Truth, except the hating the Big Two part...just like any other company, they're trying to branch out and reach a bigger audience. I can't blame them for that...but it is ridiculous. And Eminem used to be dope...It's like his delivery got better, but his lyrics went waaaay down since he was underground, and doing Soundboming II and stuff. Now he's just reverted to doing cliche gangsta stuff...same shhh different laxative as everyone else. Booooo. Sticking to Canibus, Chino XL, and Immortal Technique.

Immortal Technique is so extremely dope. I talked to Chino a couple of weeks ago...and Immortal has some guest spots on his new album. Should be good. Also, Canibus' Poet Laureate II and Infinity show some brilliant lyricism if you haven't heard them. He almost reached a whole new level with the lyrical output on those two songs. It's so hard to listen to hip-hop nowadays though...there's not enough good hip-hop out right now. The only real lyricist I see getting mainstream recognition is Lupe Fiasco. You might hear "Superstar" and the radio stuff and go "whatever" if you're an underground hip hop fan, but his wordplay and metaphors on songs like "Dumb it Down" are insane...and his first album was a hip-hop classic IMHO. It was the last straight hip-hop album that I've seen see good mainstream success. Eminem on the other hand...I just don't know...it's been a while since I heard real hip-hop from him.
Fred Van Lente's a good writer...but even just from that one sample page I saw, it looked like the Eminem dialogue was forced. I'll take a look at it out of morbid curiosity, but it doesn't look that great.

Immortal Technique is my ideal rapper. He can rap and he has aweomse lyrics. Shame i became a fan only a year after he was in sweden for a concert. I always regret that.

It's not even worth reading or searching for info about it on the net.
