I was lurking and although I knew about comparisions being made about Longshot and Gambit, I just realized Wisdom had a similar power too, at least in execution (throwing energy blades). Who do you guys think is the coolest and why?

Doesn't Wisdom... shoot energy blades, not throw them?
Gotta hand it to you, I've heard plenty of people say Gambit is a ripoff of Longshot, but this is the first time I've ever heard Wisdom brought into the mix.

From what I have noticed there is a lot of dislike for Gambit on this board, so for Gambit to come out on top it will be a miracle.

Really? Visually, his style of throwing/shooting seems almost the same to me as Gambit throwing his cards or Longshot his blades. Maybe he does shoot them, just never registered it to me till now that way.

Novaya may be on hiatus, but I certainly am not. As a card-carrying member of the Glitterati, I hereby issue you a citation, Slung, for a crime against good taste!
Longshot is the female R'Chel. They have mutual mullet-envy.
As for the topic at hand, I voted Gambit because before he got snared in an emo, self-loathing relationship with Rogue, he was the seks.

Wisdom's hot knives are a bit more versatile than simple "change and explode". He doesn't necessarily use them as projectiles all the time, and can find other uses for the thermal energy.
I like Gambit, loathe longshot... but Wisdom wins here.

Longshot is usually great.

I like Wisdom (CB&MI13 is pretty darn good book) although I gotta give it to the Cajun. It's not his (or Rogue's) fault that theri relationship got DawsonsCreek-ed to death. Write them as an ass-kicking cool couple and there would've been no problem. But nnoooo it had to get all emo and whiny.
Still, better times may be ahead.
I never got the Longshot thing. The mullet was hideous. The droopy-doe-eyed innocent-little-boy thing got old in about 5 minutes. I loved the Silvestri days but Longshot's "but-but why are people mean to each other??" moments were grating. Not to mention his "what's that" moments. When he would see...you know, any object. He sounded like a 6 year-old, which, in an adult's body always came across to me as....well, a little mentally challenged. And 'luck' is a lame, lame power.
So no offense to Longshot fans of course...(Oh lookitat! Gambit won by a mile!) To each their own and all.....but Longshot sucks big hairy ones.
Nah just kidding. You're all okay.

Longshot reminds me of that really awkward guy who would ruin every school dance in the 80s by getting ridiculously drunk, paw the girls' breasts and then pass out in the punch he just puked in.
Gambit is now a doe-eyed puppy and has lost all his appeal. The pink ballerina outfit doesn't help.
Wisdom is British. British people will ALWAYS be cooler by default. He is also currently being written by Paul Cornell. Plus, unlike the other two, he knows how to dress.

Aye. Not a lot of similarity in play, there. Wisdom fires plasma knives from his fingertips. Although, anybody who has ever read the guy knows his mutant power is far from his most interesting character element. It's the espionage that makes him far cooler than the other two.
Although X-Men Origins: Wolverine did remind how cool Gambit CAN be when treated well.
Peter Wisdom is too much of a Warren Ellis creation.
Have you read him lately? Cornell has fleshed hi out into a far more three dimensional character, now.

Longshot: I dont have much of an opinion on him yet. But I'm warming up to him in X-Factor. I loved his Uma Thurman comment.
Gambit: I've always liked Gambit. I think he's really sneaky and suave. He's just kinda badass when he's not being sulky and emo.
Wisdom: PURE LOVE. I absolutely love Wisdom right now. He's one of my favorite characters. I love his leadership, his sense of humor, his history, his business first mentality, his attitude, everything. He's such a badass character, I love him!

I'd have to go for Longshot, out of the three. I always thought his memory loss could be played up more, making him more a tragic figure, that he's lived so many lives but can't remember them.

You know, I'll be honest, I never understood that. Maybe someone can explain to me the point of throwing a bladed weapon that's just going to explode against whatever it hits. So you can stab someone AND blow them up? I guess it's no more ridiculous than the playing cards, but still, seems like overkill. Nice that they borrowed yet another element for Gambit from Longshot, but it just doesn't make any sense with Gambit's power. Knives? Really?
I know, I know... they wanted something to make him look kewler from a visual standpoint and I'm overthinking it. But if Gambit's going to keep appearing, maybe he could someday use something that makes sense and that you could actually throw farther than 50 feet, like ball bearings or marbles or something.

The cards are alot easier to carry in bunches. 52 cards is pretty compact compared to carrying 52 marbles. But anytime they get creative and have him use something around him is a plus. Him charging the bus in Evolution was pretty badass.

Longshot has a mullet, so he's DQ'd in my book. It’s a toss up with Wisdom and Gambit with me. CC and Cornell wrote an entertaining Wisdom. But despite his eyesore of a costume and annoying dialect, Remy gets the edge because I loved Gambit's solo written by Fabian a tad more.

Still jealous?
1: The knives made sense; they'd penetrate an enemy, then detonate, causing a lot more damage than a surface detonation like with the cards. that how he was able to kill Colossus with a single throw.
2: Throwing range with normal cards is irrelevent; with the kinetic charge, they're propelled as far as he needs. Throw in the afore-mentioned bonuses of lightweight, easy-to-carry, easy-to-conceal, easy-to-obtain, mass-produced, etc and it makes you wonder why he'd use anything BUT cards.

It's like this. Pretend that somehow you were able to poll everyone in America and ask them, what's the best movie ever made about teenage vampires? By far the most popular response would be Twilight. You, of course, would immediately think "These people are obviously brain damaged, the best and only answer is The Lost Boys."* And you would be right, because The Lost Boys is awesome and Twilight sucks sour goat taint. But then what? Do you take it personally and devote your time to visiting message board after message board in an effort to convert flocks of teenage girls whose main opinion consists of "Eww, Keifer Sutherland's mullet is gross, and Edward Cullen is soooo cool and dreamy!" Or do you good-naturedly shrug your shoulders, accepting that the popular opinion doesn't keep you from popping in your Lost Boys DVD anytime you want to watch, and wear your status as a cult fan proudly? I don't mean that pretentiously, it's just an easy decision, y'know?

Never been a Longshot fan; I just don't get the character or his appeal.
As for Gambit, he could have been something, but got dragged down by his mind-blowingly boring relationship with Rogue. Yeah, we get it, you can't touch her, which sucks, but you really love her, so either live with it or move on, but stop being a mopey little emo bitch about it.:evilangry:

I don't honestly believe, even for a second, that Warren Ellis genuinely wanted to screw Kitty Pryde, and used Wisdom as a way of doing it. This is Ellis. When he wants to mess with something he does it deliberately and to extremes. And it's usually very funny.
In the three issues of Dream Nails there was contempt an bickering between the two, which developed into something else. It's not just 3 pages. There was subtext. It was the kind of love/hate relationship which probably couldn't last. But for the period it did was pretty intense. It was Kitty's first adult relationship, and all that bickering and teasing each other probably made for just as explosive a relationship in other areas, too...
They were just so much fun to read.
It's the only one of Kitty's relationships I've truly been able to buy into. Both are incredibly intelligent individuals. They may have their differences, but in Wisdom Kitty very much found her intellectual equal.
I mean, we all take it as read that Kitty and Colossus is this big, long time, idyllic X-Couple. But serious? What would that actually TALK about in their own time?
