With the passing of John Carbonaro it appears, for now at least, any plans for new THUNDER Agents stories has been put on hold. I was buying the archives but they seemed to have stopped as well, were they canceled or did DC run out of material?

I didn't realize he had died.
What's the status of the THUNDER Agents now ? I'd like to see DC pick them up.

Currently the rights are part of his estate. There have been a couple of rumors but nothing definite. Personally I think Dynamite would do a good job.

There were six Thunder Agents Archives from DC - they reprinted all of the original Thunder Agents issues.
They don't seem to have reprinted the Dynamo and noman solo titles which is a pity.
As for DC doing THUNDER Agents: the plans they had for the aborted title sounded horrible - no offense intended to the people who worked on the project.
If DC did license TA I'd like ot see it does as a separate world within the Multiverse with people who were fans of the original material like Jerry Ordway and George Perez working on it.

...When originally announced, the plans sounded good, with DC claiming that the book would be "true to the original" much in the same way the mid-80's revival was. Then things went sour real quick when Carbonaro started going both anal-retentive and totally whackjob about some really minor changes - the most widely reported ones being that all the characters' real identities would be changed because Wally Wood had named them after many of his personal friends, and that Weed would no longer be a smoker! - and in a very short period of time the project was scuttled by DC when Carbonaro reportedly became way too difficult to work with - the same sort of reports that were going around when the 80's revival came to a sudden halt despite strong sales.
...Quite a number of T-Agents fans have always wanted to see Carbonaro out of the picture in hopes that someone a bit more rational could restore the property to its former glory. But at the same time we've also known that if Carbonaro croaked before the properties got transferred to such a someone with a clue, the whole thing could - and probably will - be trapped in the estate courts for years. To be honest, we may see Todd get out of the way of Miracleman before we see a new T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents revival.

I have to say that this is really rather unkind to Mr. Carbonaro, considering he's dead. Maybe you could have expressed the same sentiments in more respectful language.
