View Full Version : New Comics!!!
Ah....finally, after 3 weeks, I got to my LCS to buy some that have been building up for the past three weeks: (sry, this might take some posts)
What were your new comics?
I mainly got this for the creators. I really missed their take in the Paradox books.

A really good book, the artwork is phenomenal.

From the same series, this one was okay.

I have nothing to base from one of the creators, as I never read American Born Chinese, but I have read some of Kim's stuff. This was okay. A lot of pages so, pricewise it wasn't so bad, but the stories were typically left unconcluded. I thought it would be more like 3 comic books in a trade collection.

That batman special was actually pretty awesome.
I love No-Face and narcissus.
This book is AWESOME!!! This issue in particular is so very romantic and despite the cheesecake cover, and the fact that the girls are cute with nice little bods and all, this one is sooooo lovey and not sexual at all!!!

Moore is rockin GR!!!! He makes the title a semi-horror series once again! This is fantastic!

I wanted to like this one, but the plot is subpar, it's well written in some places but things that happen are unbelieveable. I liked the art.

This was a very cool farewell issue!! Non-superheroey stuff going on here. This was a nice little issue not taking itself too seriously.

I decided to try the first of this 2 issue series, as both books are available now, but one of the things holding me back was the price. 5.99. Now I know that's a lot and probably due to Diamond's policies, but the book is oversized and done by Mahfood and 2 different colorists who do a good job on his art. The beginning is a little hard to read, as Jim lettered it himself, but there is a little story in here. The first story, having to do with Jim's usual kick-butt young women and everyone in their world is decent but the second one is a little more engaging for first time readers to his style, I would think. I'm thinking about getting the second issue soon.

Interesting. I didn't think I would like this one as the Ms. Marvel I know and respect is not really in it. New girl artist, Rebeka Isaacs is pretty good. MM doesn't seem as cheesecakey drawn as usual, and there is even commentary on it.

I don't know why I didn't previously recognize this book, but this one was well done. I like Wagner's scripts as they are short and to the point, but not knowing about the story, I had no idea where this one was coming from. Another new girl artist Amy Hadley, does a good job and has some nice backup by the inker and colorist.

Another good muppets book. Though not as good as the first one, and I noticed, Boom is now labeling this as, 'Boom Kids', the art remains strong, it's just the writing in this one is kinda, bleah.

This issue was really good! I liked the action in it as well as the strong story. Good for you Proof, he deserved that!

I don't know, though I'm not so high up on Smith's comics, I have to admit, this is well done. The art and all are good, but I just don't connect with his plot on this.

This was kinda like the above book. Take rocks the art and the plot is generally good, but there is a lacking feeling in this one. I felt the nice Molly dialogue, but it was undercut by being so blaise, like most of the book except for the end.

This one was okay. Nothing significant, like I've heard others say, but it's alright. Nothing that great, but nothing that bad.

I don't know why I hadn't picked this one up as well!! This is a really, really good issue of some series I had not picked up before. The characterizations, the plot, art, it's ALL good! I look forward to the next one and maybe some of the back issues.
http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh228/michaelphotos22/CBRScanUNS7.jpg
Wonder Woman!! I liked this one overall. Particularly the back half of the issue. There's a LOT of story in this one, a lot to take in. It was a heavy read and i keep wondering where Gail is gonna take this one!

That batman special was actually pretty awesome.
I love No-Face and narcissus.
yeah, they were all pretty cool! the issue rocked.
Despite that cheesy cover, all the lovey stuff inside left me feeling all warm and fuzzy!
No, there was no girl sex (at least with the three on the cover)

One more comic b/c my lcs was out of it at the time, so I went to another lcs to see if they had it. And they did.
I picked this up originally at the good review that Blair Butler gave it, but I don't like the current ones as much as the original 3, I think, that are in vol.1.
Of course, there is also her passionate plea for the book!

I liked the Arkham Asylum book, too.
Also, the Muppet Show and RASL.
I think Wonder Woman is being written the best it ever has. I liked Rucka's take, too, but Gail's is better.
And no Madame Xanadu for me, as Diamond didn't ship it to my LCS.
Speaking of Madame Xanadu, I don't think you can call an artist 'new' when that artist has been working in comics for quite some time. And calling her a 'girl artist' is just not right. I'm pretty sure she'd rather be called a 'woman artist', a 'female artist' or just a damn fine artist.
