What did you guys think? IMO it started off real shaky, had some lines, great art, and puled off a pretty decent ending. Have not re-read it yet, but planing too. Not sure how much potential there is yet, but then ago there wasn't much story yet. But I cant stop comparing it to Northlanders, and in comparison it lacks greatly. I'm probably gonna give it the first story arc, then if it comes to it, drop it.

In a nutshell. Great start.

Am I the only one who's kind of turned off by the format of the book? That was my main reason for not buying it; that, and I wanted to hold off and hear the general clamor. It sounds good, so I might snag a copy next week at my LCS.

i haven't read it yet, but i was pretty impressed with the format. does anyone know if the pricepoint is going to stay at 2.99 or is it going to bump up after issue 1?

Brandon addressed this in the last Word Balloon podcast. He didn't say either way but he did say, and I paraphrase loosely: "We wanted to create something that people can feel they got a lot for 3$. And wanted to emphasize the single issue format. We're not writing for the trade and we want our issues to be competitive."
I'm assuming they'll stay at 3$ as long as possible. I mean they're selling a crapload of books at 3$ and the quality of the paper and design and dress is better than average so that's a big F.U to the big two's 4$ books.

Yeah, AFAIK the price and format are permanent.
Cover for issue 2 is already in the bag.

Good job on the logo and overall design. Looks real slick!

I really enjoyed the first issue of Viking, although I was not immensely impressed with the book during the first read. I usually require a second helping before I can really absorb all that a book has to offer (what can I say? I'm a bit slow sometimes). As previously mentioned, it's a great value at $2.99 compared to some of the junk coming out of the Big 2 at $3.99.

This was really good. Obviously the art and design is beautiful and probably the main draw, but I thought the dialogue and pacing were equally as great. The dialogue in particular reads almost like poetry, but manly, Viking poetry. :)
I'm also seeing that this an ongoing book, so I'm pretty excited about that.

picked up the second print today...wish i would have seen this the first time it came out...
for whatever reason, i kind of like the format, it sets the book apart...
obviously there are going to be comparisons to northlanders and understandably so, but i'll wait til this first arc is complete before i really get into it...
solid start and i really like the art...

You just reminded me how I needed to pick this one up. It looks really great and will enjoy any review I could get.

AFAIK, only marvel is shoving the 4$ books into the market. Not all but some of their titles are 4$. BUT dc on the other hand does not have any 32 page 4$ books. Get ur facts straight. They are going to have 3.99$ price points on only the books with the extra story feature.

I'm sorry, please forgive my ignorance. I didn't mean to misrepresent any comics publisher.
