Mahnke's covers look great - and both of them are at the "same place", with Black Lantern action from Black Hand and Martian Manhunter at Bruce Wayne's grave. Awesome. Barry jumping right into this event is interesting ... his timeline is literally like ... Final Crisis>Rebirth>Blackest Night with no pauses for his own series to start until after BN. Both very cool. J'onn is barely even recognizable!

Tales of the Corps is going to be great, I can't wait to see the variant covers. So the girl leader of the Indigo Tribe is called "Indigo" - that makes her the THIRD Indigo in DC comics, after Indigo I, and Deep Blue, who went briefly by that name as well.

And there's an Orange Lantern named "Blume". I'm betting it's the weird plant creature that devours entire planets ... this guy;

http://i.livescience.com/images/vaneta008.jpg

PT: The second one is an intelligent plant. It does lure it's prey with the "flower" on its head. This sentient plant is one of the species in the Vega system which consumes slowly, in time, whole continents of living things around it, and then moves on to new places, eventually consuming all life in the planet.

Blume ... "bloom" ... makes sense to me. At any rate, that gives us Larfleeze, Fragulla, and Blume as Orange Lanterns so far named ...

It's all looking fun.

Some serious freakin' spoilers!!! But who cares, I'm buying the books anyways and CANNOT WAIT!!! I wish they were all coming out tomorrow! Looks like that whole Mongol vs. Sinestro situation plays out longer than I thought, though...

I wonder what the new law which Kyle and Guy are against?

Rough guesses:

Since it came from the riots at the science cell between three lantern corps...

Options:
1) All Enemies of the Corp must Die!
2) All Non Green Lanterns are Enemies of the Corp.
3) All non Green Lanterns are to be Destroyed! (Combo 1 and 2)

Other guesses?

Cool, thanks.

So, do we know when Bruce Wayne's funeral was?

He didn't have one. It hasn't been mentioned in any books or anything, but officially they're saying "Batman wouldn't have wanted people to waste time on a funeral, and that the best way to pay respect to him would be to continue his mission".

That being said ... "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?" is as close to a funeral issue as you're going to get, even if it's more of an emotional/mental experience than a true funeral.

It's one thing for Batman to be dead, but how is the world of the DCU reacting to the fact that *Bruce Wayne* has died? This hasn't been dealt with. Bruce isn't Joe Shmoe. His death would have huge economic repercussions in Gotham City and beyond.

No, I understand that. But I'm not talking about Batman, I'm talking about billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne. Didn't they put out a cover story about community work in the Middle East in the next-to-last issue of Robin? Isn't Vicki Vale trying to track Wayne down?

Why do all that if you're just going to have him in the ground next to his folks?

This is what I'm wondering, more or less. I assumed that they were going to explain away Bruce's absence with some cover story or another and a Hush that looks exactly like Bruce out and about. If Bruce Wayne's death is going to be public, then there are ramifications there worth exploring aren't there?

The graves in the Blackest Night 0 art are Thomas and Martha Wayne, and an unmarked grave. Bruce is not known as dead in the DCU public, it is only named on the cover so that it will have meaning, an unmarked grave won't mean a thing to a consumer, but Bruce Wayne's grave is provocative. Thomas Elliot has been locked up in Bruce Wayne's penthouse and will be breaking out to be pursued by the leads in Gotham City Sirens in their second issue.

Is it bad of me to want to buy every single issue that has 'Blackest Night' splashed across the cover? Add that to my plans to jump back onto the Bat-train in June (for the 1st time since the original Crisis), and I think there might be a grand total of 5 books in the entire DCU that I won't be buying and reading. I think I need professional help.

Black Hand will go to the remains of Batman to give him a ring, but for some reason he won't

this will lead Tim Drake to question Batman's death and to look into it.

Barry and Hal vs Martian Manhunter. looks great

I'd think it'd be really messed up to see Donna's husband and son come back as Black Lanterns in the Titan's mini-series.

it's a cover, they put "Bruce Wayne" there to let US know it's Bruce. also they can't just simply put "Batman" or that would undercut the current direction of the Batbooks.

anyways I'm kinda interested int he hal/barry/j'onn fight, those 3 were the genesis of the Silver Age so it'd be interesting to see them fight it out

Everyone still thinks Bruce is alive:

GOTHAM CITY SIRENS #2
Written by Paul Dini
Art and cover by Guillem March

Tommy Elliott, a.k.a. the villainous mastermind known as Hush, has escaped the confines of Batman's headquarters and is wreaking havoc throughout Gotham City all under the guise of Bruce Wayne. Will the loose assemblage of Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn be enough to stop the madman's rampage? Or are Gotham's femmes fatales doomed to fail before they even begin?

For Blackest Night, the writing may be better in a more linear fashion than Final Crisis and the tie-ins with that series for some readers. Who knows how it will play out, but this summer should make more sense to a casual reader in the closing issues from last summer for DC writing wise. The teasers for the art show more promise.

Business will be good this summer for many different franchises under a few different umbrella titles.

It's sort of a relief to see that Wednesday Comics is only going to be $3.99. With all those big names, I was imagining it going up to $4.99 or something. I'm really excited about all these big names, though I thought it was strange that Didio was writing Metal Men.

The Final Crisis Aftermaths look decent, as does Flash Rebirth. No major spoilers or anything.

I'll probably check out Cry for Justice too.

Eh, no interest at *all* in Wednesday comics, but I hope it does well anyway.

Although when it comes to Rebirth... "What destiny awaits Wally and his twins?" - Uh-oh...

The problem is, on one level I LOVED GL: Rebirth and Johns' first run on Flash, but I'm terrified that bringing Barry back is going to completely sideline Wally, we already know Johns can't write Bart and, well, in general I'm worried that this is going to screw the Flash universe up. Not to mention that I think Morrison captured everything *good* about Barry in Final Crisis and that's all been notably absent from the first issue of Rebirth.

$3.99 for 16 pages? Ugh. This does look awesome, but there is just no way I can fit it into my budget. Maybe it'll be collected as a trade afterward, though I'm sure it won't have the cool fold-out aspect. Honestly, with prices on the rise and my budget on the decline, this probably won't be the first casualty for me.

If DC knows they can make more money with trade form of Wednesday comics then they're probably going to do it.

But I'd hate to see it shrunken down in size and become less detailed.

Well, if it is too much money in trade, then I won't be getting that either. I'm hoping 12 issues for between 15 and 20 bucks, and I'd only pick it up if I heard a lot of positives about it. The format sounds to me like each story will only end up being 12 pages. I can't imagine the stories will be that worth it. Does anyone know if they are supposed to impact regular continuity?

They're fairly large pages: if you think as each 14 x 20 feature as being the equivalent of 2 normal pages, then it's 3.99 for 32 pages, which is mostly reasonable. (I think 14 x20 actually works out to a bit under three 8 1/2 x 11 pages.)

That said, I sort of expect them to do an oversized coffee table book version for trade. I mean, that's what I'd do if I was running the project. The alternative is to break each 14 x 20 page into four roughly 7 x 10 pages, and play around a bit with the borders to fill space.

Wednesday Comics should be fun, and I'm definitely going to be getting it, but I'm more interested in how the Final Crisis spin-offs will sell. DC seems to be putting a fair amount of publicity behind them, but personally, I have absolutely no interest in any of them. I tend to forget they're even coming out until the newest solicitations are released each month to refresh my memory of their existence.

I can hear my wallet screaming for mercy already. Is anyone else trying to set a few dollars more than usual aside each month in preparation of Blackest Night? I know that may sound cheap, but I've been pretty selective of what titles I buy each month for a while now for monetary reasons. I'm afraid BN is really going to inflate my monthly comic book spending.

I usually just buy GL and GLC, so that 2 monthly, but keep extra cash incase there are one-shots or other mini/monthly I might get. But since now Blackest Night crossover will have about 6 comics a month, Im going to have to save double to get them all, although i might skip on some, such as Blackest Night: Teen Titans and maybe Superman.

I love the in Rebirth parallax was the major badass. Then in the sinestro corps war sinestro himself got to shine more prominently and now the black hand is being built up to be the major badass.

I wonder if he will be a mere plot device(gateway to the black) or will johns continue to flesh him out more?

Blackest night looks great. It seemed kind of weird that there are two issues of GL with the cover right at Bruces grave but it makes sense. I just can't wait to read them.

Yeah... I hope that Wednesday Comics will be collected in trade form. It just strikes me as a better idea than this strange newsprint concept. The issues will be flimsy and hard to properly store.they'll likely be collected the same way those Alex Ross/Paul Dini stories were collected

Can't wait for July!!

Blackest Night, Wednesay Comics, Justice League: Cry For Justice!! And Dectective Comics and Batman & Robin!!

Totally down for of the Blackest Night tie-ins, except maybe Teen Titans. Never read an issue of Titans in my life, so I'm worried that the mini won't be new reader friendly. Although if it is, I can't wait to pick it up!

I may even pick up Batman since I'm on such a DC buzz at the moment!! Go Bagley!!

With al of these DC books I'll be getting, my Marvel stash may become smaller. Marvel's books will really have to shine if they expect to make the cut!

They're fairly large pages: if you think as each 14 x 20 feature as being the equivalent of 2 normal pages, then it's 3.99 for 32 pages, which is mostly reasonable. (I think 14 x20 actually works out to a bit under three 8 1/2 x 11 pages.)

Busiek said how he wrote his pages, the large format ended up covering about what 3-4 normal pages would. So if that follows for the rest of the stories, that ends up being 15 x 4 = 60 pgs. for $3.99!!

I'm so relieved that this will only be $4! My only problem is that this i weekly, so I'm kinda bummed that I'll be paying $16 for one series per month, but if the first issue is worth it, I'll be more that happy to fork it over. I'm buying more DC books this month than I ever have before. I really hope this trend continues for the forseeable future.

Man, aside for one or two weird creator choices, the final line up for Wednesday Comics looks awesome. I really can't wait for this.

And between that and Blackest Night, July looks like it'll be a really expensive month for me. It looks like it will be totally worth it though.
