GL: Rebirth questions (spoilers)

Just read it for the first time. Is it just me or are some things purposefully left ambiguous?


Ok, so apparently the central battery was destroyed at the point this story starts?
And the rings tap into the central battery to get energy?
So how did the rings function when the central battery was destroyed?
Now, the Guardians were M.I.A for a while right?
Where do they come from at the end of the story and why?


I think that's it. I'm assuming some of these things were left open on purpose in order to create material for the ongoing which I haven't read but thinking of picking up in trade.

All the Guardians were killed and only 1 was left behind, Ganthet, Kyle RAYNER who was at the time the last green lantern got all of the power from the guardians, he became ION soon later and he restored the battery also he made new guardians.

I'm just new at reading graphic novels. I want to start reading a couple of comic book series. This GL Rebirth is a good start. I liked Sinestro's evilness in this limited series. He came across as very cold.

He was nearly god as Ion,so he created new guardians and power battery, heck Hal Jordan recreated Coast City completely minus the citizens while he was still a mere Green Lantern. Just get the trade Power Of Ion ( hard to find though) and you'll see it.

I thought he was able to restore coast city as spectre not as GL...

When Hal originally lost it, he made a GL construct of the city. John Stewart kind of did the same thing on a larger scale pretty recently.

Pre-rebirth Ion and Parallax were practically gods though. Hal was trying to recreate the Universe to how he saw fit when he was originally Parallax and Ion was meant to be of about the same power level. Creating a bunch of Guardians and reconstructing the battery doesn't sound too hard compared to what Halallax was trying to do.

I think he burned off excess energy from the Ion entity to reignite OA's central battery or something.

These things have happened so many times in one way or another I lose track.

Basically, the Guardians captured Parallax. The Yellow Fear Monster, and stuffed him into the Central Power Battery, the Giant Green Lantern, with Ion, the Big Green Space-Whale, which kept Parallax in check.

Until, of course, the Guardians left our dimension to make nookie with the Zarmarons, leaving the GLCorps with nobody to tell them it'd be a bad idea to let Sinestro get inside the Central Power Battery, make contact with the Parallax and use it to infect ol' Hal.

When Hal entered the Central Power Battery and Parallax grafted itself onto his soul, Ion The Big Space-Whale got let loose, which sucked up all the souls of the Guardians to keep them safe from Ye Old Yellow Fear Monster.

At that point, all the power of the Central Power Battery was split in two halves, divided equally between Parallax and Ion.

When Hal offed himself to kill the Sun Eater and took Parallax with him, the Ion energy and the Parallax energy left behind in the Sun were drawn back together until Kyle, who'd merged with Ion, claimed that power and became a god who promptly resurrected the Guardians as kids and empowered the new Central Power Battery.

When the events of Green Lantern: Rebirth hit, the Kiddie Smurf Guardians were zapped into Creepy Blue Old People Guardians by Ganthet before he high-tailed it to Earth to lay the smack-down on Spectre/Parallax.

Of course, Creepy Blue Old People Guardians went right back to being douchebags again, a trait they were supposed to grow out of when Kyle resurrected them as kids.
