Hi all! I'm desperately looking for TWO adult tickets for this year's Bristol Comic Expo, which is held here in the UK on the 9th and 10th of May. I can pay ticket price plus a little extra for anyone who can help me out. Thanks, all...hope to hear from you soon! :o)

You'll be incredibly lucky to get a ticket sadly. I know that people are not happy it's been moved from Temple Meads to just the Ramada, which is tiny for even the numbers of tickets sold for this year's event.
Good luck though.

Thanks for that! But...I have now secured tickets for Sunday at least, which is cool! :o))

Well done, hope you get a Saturday ticket sorted.

I just found out here and now it's been moved, the tickets are sold out (except for some Sunday's), and there are no tickets at the door.
No tickets at the fucking door? What?!
The Sundays tend to have people leaving and things being packed up, I'm not sure if it's worth going just for that day...

The pre-publicty for this year's Expo has been stunningly poor, and I'm concerned that the passing trade the Expo gets will be put off, which will leave the road open for those moaning faced bastards who say this should be in London to try to move it there.
I hope it's still a success, but to lose the passing trade because of the smaller venue is a pity as that's a lot of kids who'll miss out.

I'm amazed they even tried to go ahead with it this year because of the issues of where to hold it.
I get the impression that holding a smaller event, in a half-arsed manner is going to do more damage to the reputation in the long term than having a gap year would've been.
Having said that, until the train service between Birmingham and Bristol improves its always going to be a problem for me to justify going, even if it is just to see the Geek Syndicate and Comic Racks guys and gals.

Possibly, but it's been a huge success in dragging British fandom out of the grave that UKCAC dug for itself in it's latter years. A smaller event will be odd, but with the recession biting it might just work out for the best.

Is it really that bad?

Last train off Bristol is something like nine in the evening. I only really go to these things to met up with Dave, Barry, Iz and Stace and the UK podcasting group, and to have a few drinks with the professionals in the bar later, so having to run off at about half eight rather defeats the object.
Having said that, it does save me having to pay the stupid bar prices.
At least Dick Turpin wore a mask.

My last two years, I specifically went for two days with a hotel room so I could do the bar thing.
Bit hard to stomach the cost this time around. Course I did wait a while before deciding whether I wanted to go or not for the one day, hence the crisis here because there is no capacity for foot traffic (are we agreed that's dim?).
Depending on train fare though, I may just suck up and do it.

Nine at night? Fuck, that's a bit rubbish.
The hotel bar is ridiculous, but there is The Reckless Engineer nearby which is far more reasonably priced.
