Huh huh. Cause the average UXM thread of late and all the MC whining doesn't prove us right.

All those straight-faced PHOENIX conversations beg to differ.

To be fair, it's more the 'Cyke is such a Stu, but any female leader beats him at everything and stop saying they're Sues, you sexist f**k' mentally that gets on one's nerves.

The whining is because many are sick of Cyclops being shoved down our throats. And the crazy Phoenix conversations are usually limited to Jean's own thread and do not intrude upon others. And finally, Cyke IS a Stu. He didn't use to be, but since Morrison, he has been.

Oh, and there is no reason for Cyclops to have an Appreciation thread on here - the editors and writers of the X-Books have regular Cyclops Appreciation interviews that are much more prestigious.

I have to agree with Slung on this point. There seem to be more R'Chel fans here (God knows why) than Jean fans, even. Jean/Emma disputes rarely escalate to the level of Cyclops/Storm arguments, either.

As far as the "organized Dazzler cult" ... I'll take that as praise. The Glitterati thank you, Slung! Now bear tribute to our goddess ....

To be honest, I have no idea whether Locke meant Rage, Omega or me.

Rage's the angriest by far, by Omega and I can be confrontational jerks too. Oh well.

Yes, I don't know who she meant, either, lol! Like I said, I was just stirring the pot because I thought it was funny the two of you posted within 2 posts of each other or so.

Never mind, maybe it seemed more clever to me at the time than it was in execution ...

Compared A-listers, no. I seem to vaguely recall the bitter CBR collective reminding us of that fact.

The fair comparison's the whole effin point.

We have neutralized CC to the point where we can now stand in his corner.

Especially compared to Fraction. And you are correct: I do hate Fraction since he is now CC v. 2.0. Mike Carey once held that title, but has since redeemed himself. Fraction is to H&M as CC is to Chic. Both are incredibly timely and will soon fall out of fashion.

CC's legacy must persevere compared to Fraction's abhorrent sins. CC was destroyed on satellite titles. Fraction is currently writing the flagship. Nuance.

“There’s a reason why it’s taken ten issues to get the Queen ready and set up how and why she’s trying to get rid of the X-Men.”

Yup -- it's sometimes called "decompressed writing" or somtimes "packaging it for the trade" or even more heinously "let the little suckers spend forty bucks for a single story".

Most. Definitely.

I liked Brubaker's run. I was fine with the drawn out Hippie/Russia arc, since I knew it was building to #500.

Post-500 gets no excuses. This is just intolerable crap.

Could the Sisterhood want to do to the other character what they did to Psylocke not involve about body swap, but rather corrupting the character like what the solicit said? You know, something like this:
http://comicbookresources.com/news/preview2.php?image=previews/marvelcomics/uncannyxmen/508/UNCX509012_col.jpg
Is this what they want to do with the other character?

CmX

My guess is they succeeded in swapping Betsy's body, so now Maddie will try and do the same thing but with Jean's body.

Poor Betsy she looks so rattled in that preview! This has to work/stick. Spiral was the one to begin with who originally switched Psylocke's psyche out. She must be able to do the exact same thing again and it work.

I haven't read the latest issue... but...
I liked the first Fraction arc with Land on art... the Sisterhood setup... and am looking forward to this continuation.
Fraction seems to have a good road map for some X-Men stories that draw on past strength and core characters...

X-Club is kinda interesting fringe story that's been a huge theme since M-Day, Endangered Species etc.
The Colossus Russian Mob story was boring...

Looking forward to the Dark X-Men idea... not sure if that's Prof. X for real... could it be a shape shifter? Mystique????

And what's wrong with Land-Porn art in X-Men... I mean, I like to read comics... I like watch hot little porn girls...
Why not combine the two interests?
He's not my favorite artist, but the style doesn't make me not want to read about the X-Men...

I'm assuming that you don't think you're part of the crazy collective?

Why are the craziest fans the ones that believe everyone else is wrong?

And in interviews they stated Hope wasn't Jean. In the books they went out of their way to imply that she was. The fact that you decided the interviews over-rode the books does not make you right. Red hair, green eyes, grabbing the Jean and Scott locket.

i just liked that and agree.

But these are some great examples of bad Land panels...

I think when you look at the panels individually, it screams bad taste or "I obviously traced this." (though I've read Land continues to say he, "References," these pics and doesn't trace).

Does Marvel or Joe Q. go on record to defend Land?

But when you look at a comic book he's drawn as a whole... I still enjoy it... It's still very modern and very "real life"... not so cartoony...
I do like the other regular Uncanny artist... name is not coming to me... loved his last issue with that Bronze Age Monster coming up out of the swamp... and Angel turning into Archangel and gutting it...

It bothers me more when I see Norman Osbord lookalike Tommy Lee Jones in Dark Avengers...

But that first one I posted is like a straight up picture of sex. And I get tired of seeing the same poses and faces in the same issue. Believe me, when Endsong came out, I thought Land was amazing. Now I've seen the same porn face over and over again, its getting old. If he got new photo references (and didn't use obvious porn) I would be fine with it, but apparently he only has a handful of porn pictures to use over and over again.

Guess I shouldn't have taken up a defense of Land on my first post!

Interesting comment earlier about the Phoenix force leaving Rachel/Korvus in space...
Looking forward to how this all get's resolved...
Though I feel like the Maddie/RedQueen arc will end up being simplier than a huge Phoenix/Jean arc...
It would be too quick to do a 3-issue arc and then move on to Dark Avengers 6-issue crossover arc...

I think there's more connection between what's going on in the future of Cable/X-Force universe and Hope's connection with the Phoenix/Jean... I mean they showed Hope with the Phoenix in her eyes... so they're setting it up...
Joe/Marvel have said that they plan to bring Jean back, but that they want to make sure it's the right... not rushed.

In general, the X-Universe has a ton of plots that are really good.

Messiah Triology is great...
The new X-Force is a little over the top busy with all the deceased returning as techno-zombie-reincarnates... but love Yost/Crain... they can do no wrong.
Uncanny has Madelyn back and it doesn't seem corny...
Magneto is on the horizon...
X-Factor I just started picking up when Siren gave birth... so obviously I'm blown away.
The Space-X-Men are kinda useless... though I do like Havok still... and Polaris has great potential... I the Uncanny arc Rise and Fall... she was SO powerful with Apocolypse's reconstruction of her magnetic powers... it was great to see her as an archangel type... she kicked ass!
Now in War of Kings/Kingbreaker she is being referred to as having mutant magnetic powers... this is breaking with continuity, right?
What else... what else...

Can we have an alternate universe where Sinister rules...
Seriously... we've see Apocolypse rule and Magneto Rule...
Maybe in Forever, CC can have Sinister travel back in time to capture a pre-Cable Nathan Summers and rule the world with Nathan as his right hand man...

Even though I'm looking forward to the Dark Avengers crossover, I'm not a big fan of Emma working with Osbourn and X-Men being dragged into Marvel's 616 continuity...
Seems like there's enough going on without it.

Safe to say I'm in the minority.I thought it was hot, but it didn't look like Boom Boom to me even tho her look seems to constantly change she never had huge knockers like that except when Liefeld drew her and he made her look like a tranny most of the time.

I don't have my issue with me, but I'm pretty sure Emma, in that panel where she's holding her head? Didn't she make that same face, and reaction, when the "psychic event" hit her in Uncanny #508? Or is it just heinously similar porn face reaction?

oh gosh. why does he do this? and why does marvel allow him to do this?

You know... I pay good money for original art and story...

I want a refund.

This is ridiculous...

There are so many artists... begging for work... and this guy...within... several issues of the same title... reuses images and passes them off to us.

I looked at those panels... and thought they looked familiar... *SIGH*...

Having looked at the previews, now... I am happy to see Colossus and Rockslide at a Raiders game, amongst the deranged Raiders Nation fans from the Black Hole. Although, I never knew Piotr was a football fan. Rockslide, I could totally believe, but whatever.

I googled "Raider Nation", and look what I found?

Do you think Greg Land asked these people for permission to use their likeness?

And, that Uncanny #512 cover? Giant Robot? GO MADISON JEFFRIES! WOOT!

No, it's just the same fan, in a similar pose. Go to the original post in this thread... click on the link, and look at some of the preview images from Uncanny. One of them has Colossus and Rockslide at a Raider game... and... this fan in particular seems to have been honored by Greg Land with a place in an issue in Uncanny.

Tooling around while google image searching "Raider Nation fans", I found a few that have similar makeup, or jerseys to the other fans in his art, but couldn't quite match the poses. #57 here, though... dead on. Actually, I found a few other familiar faces with just "Raider Fans". Here's our two skull guys...

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_cnV-Xw7SoD8/RwrnCRZRW-I/AAAAAAAAAaw/rGiyOmOvszo/s320/raider_fans.jpg

And #72, here, has a different hat (and no teddy bears on his armor) in Land's art, but the makeup, and goatee are the same.

http://silverandblackdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/2779.jpg

And this guy, #57, again, is the fourth one there with Rockslide and Colossus.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_czpdXPp3lNM/SE6jStIuffI/AAAAAAAAAB4/ccx-qNthXXs/S660/IMG_0234.jpg

So, this all took me about what, five minutes of research to spot, on and off over an hour or so? Try harder, Land.

Talking about Land and his wonderful tracing, did any body else notice that he used the same Lady M profile shot twice in 508? The first when she is pointing her gun at the Red Queens head and then in reverse when she is arguing with Martinique! He just makes her hair a bit longer the first time he used it.

I mentioned that in the Uncanny #508 thread, yeah. I think it's like page 18 or 19 of it. Just plain lazy. And, with Dodson taking four months of art in between, you'd think Land would've had time to draw two different panels of Lady M's head, rather than duplicate one and reverse image it.

I know, isn't Lorna just awesome? Anyway, to answer your question... what if she IS infact a mutant again? In X-Men: Kingbreaker #1, the Shi'Ar scientists took tests on her and kept on referring to her as a mutant. And her hair hasn't grown a normal human colour at all since she's been 'depowered.' What if the Celestial Technology that Apocalypse used to give her the apparently artifical powers, infact reactivated her X-gene?

This is further backed up with Magneto recently been repowered by Celestial Technology in Uncanny and being confirmed by Joe Quesada to now be a mutant. His X-gene was clearly reactivated. And yes, Celestial Technology started the whole mutantkind thing in the first place.

In Uncanny X-Men #508, Beast reveals that the X-gene is still there, just deactivated. One of the scientists mentions something about trying outer space, Beast hasn't. This leads me to think that Magneto's and the HE's success at 'repowering' Magneto with the Celestial Tech (they went to outer space, go figure) they found is infact the key to saving mutantkind and can even work against Wanda's spell on the X-genes.

Therefore, yes, Polaris is a mutant again. So are Magneto and Sunfire.

When I read the article, I kept thinking the red queen is the scarlet witch. The scarlet witch has gone dark before. Just a thought. And why does every Avengers and X-Men team have to have a Wolverine?

I don't think she's the Scarlet Witch, 'cause like I said before... this is a 3 issue arc where the 3rd issue is everyone kicking the crap out of each other...

To bring the Scarlet Witch back in a short arc like this would be too rushed... Just like bring Jean back is too rushed.

Is there any connection to the Scarlet Witch and these sisterhood members? I don't think so...
And the Scarlet Witch wouldn't go after Scott with sexual fantasies and pose as his ex-wife... doesn't make sense.

If she comes back to the X-books it should be with Magneto's return I think! We know there's a big Magneto arc to come... Hopefully tying into the X-Clubs discoveries (if they ever get any)... and resolving the M-Day drama.

I just hope we don't go back to a world where there are a million lame mutants all over the earth...
Morrison's run was good, but the X-World is better with a small mutant community.

I've read pretty much read everything up until the Twelve saga... and then read the Morrison run... then skipped to Astonishing...
I didn't read any of the Austen run...
Anything good there?
I didn't read CC's second run with the House of M in the X-books. I read the House of M mini-series by Bendis...
And then picked up the books again with the Shi'ar Rise & Fall and Messiah Complex...

Anything I'm missing out on?

It all depends on what you like & how open you are to new ideas weather not you will think the stories are good are or not... Because some people like the some/many stories that you speaking about while many other people didn't/don't like them. So what characters do you like? Why didn't they just call Prof X or some telepath to hold the Shadow King in check... Betsy's better as a telepath.
Sounds like I'm getting my wish though.

I like Polaris... I actually read some of the Blood Of Apocolypse and thought it was OK... need to get the trade if it's available as the individual books are hard to find...

Havok was written off in Mutant X... never read any of that.

X-Treme X-Men was terrible... I bought the whole set cheap on eBay, but couldn't get through the series... read the God Loves Man Kills pt. 2 editorially mandated story and wanted to throw up... terrible...

I think even though terribly over exposed... Wolverine is obviously a great character to read...

Kitty, Rachel... I liked the first Excalibur series...

Emma is great... Gen X characters pretty much sucked though...

I grew up on CC and Silvestri, so any of those characters I'd have to say are favorites...
Including Dazzler... (nod to the Glitterati)
Colossus was killed off, but he was one of my favorites...

Actually, as for Betsy losing her telepathy: she did not lose it, she merely held the Shadow King in check. Then Jean DID come along and helped her deal with the Shadow King which gave Betsy Jean's telekinesis and while Jean ended up with Betsy's shadow powers. Don't ask me how.

Bachalo art, and great stories from Lobdell. The Emma/Sean sexual tension, and their differing teaching methods made for a nice conflict, as did the early build of Emplate and his crew of goons. Plus, a bunch of kids with seemingly dull powers kept using them in amazing and creative ways to pull out wins.

re X-23 : well its was written my CC & she really didn't say or do all that much in the stories but meet Kurt, Storm & etc. But she really only talk to Psylocke in that the whole time she with that team other than out run & out start them. a lot he later brought Psylocke back live (the next arc I believe & that when here & X speak) X meets the team in 450 &stays to 451. Then she shows back up in 455 (which is the issue which Psylocke comes back alive ) Laura is currently in X-Force http://www.comicvine.com/x-23/29-3560/x-force/49-20511/ before that she was in New X-men (20-46) http://www.comicvine.com/x-23/29-3560/new-x-men/49-18078/ were great
did u read her minis? X-23: Innocence Lost & X-23: Target X they take place before she really join the X-world & they were great stories.

re Psylocke: CC did some what interesting some about how he brought he back alive & he made he brother (Jamie)seem as some what sympathetic person & not just a nut which I felt was cool & etc.

re Polaris : I like Polaris to she one of my fav. in the Polaris thread you can find out a lot info on her. http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=170528&page=374. Also I by comics off this site when I can't find them in the stories.. http://www.mycomicshop.com/ during Chuck Austen run he finally tackle the elephant in the room & confirmed her to be Magneto daughter (alot nun Polaris fan in my opinion didn't like this while most of her fans do/did) There was a lot of Polaris during his run. He also reveled that Kurt father as Azazel a mutant in biblical times who was call & know as Satan.

So yeah Kurt dad is the devil lol & its canon now matter how many & much people hate it lol (I personally like the idea &the major of people hated it.) In all honesty it wasn't executed as best as it could have been (because of late art on the issue & because there 3 plots in the book) I also like how he wrote Juggernaut he made seem human & not just a big a-hole. He also went in to more detail about the Juggernaut & Prof.X shared father (Kurt Marko) & how he both effect them & abused both them & etc. I personally enjoyed all of X-men vol2 (157-208)or whatever it called. http://www.comicvine.com/x-men/49-10731/ It pick up right after New X-men 156 & UNX 443 (the 1st 8 are written by Austen. then a petty good X-mas issue by CC.. then the HoM happens :frown: ) UNX 444 is when CC start back writing on Uncanny.

Re Havok : Havok was an major part of Austen runs it when he kind of came back to the X-world. Have you read X-Men: Deadly Genesis? which lead up to Shi'ar Rise & Fall. For Havok, Rachel, & Polaris also read X-Men: Emperor Vulcan, X-Men: Kingbreaker, also Havok had a Divided We Stand story in between those mini. Also read War of Kings (which started 2 months ago) & They are in the few tie issues of War kings also.

re : For a great Rachel story read Uncanny X-men 466-471(End of Greys) Its takes place before she goes into space with her uncle & etc. for more info on here go ask the people in the Rachel Thread http://forums.comicbookresources.com/showthread.php?t=186728&page=153.

re Kitty. Did u read all of Astonishing(1-24 & Giant-Size Astonishing X-Men )

Re Emma : she mostly as in Astonishing. she had some good/interesting moments in New Mutants (Vol.2) New X-men academy X/New X-Men http://www.comicvine.com/new-x-men/49-18078/ also she become a main characters in uncanny staring from 495- to now where we are now (508/509)

re : Rogue she had her on series for a while back in 2004 http://www.comicvine.com/rogue/49-19612/ (in which revel more of here history & etc) she was in 47 issues on (X-men vol2) 157-207 (some of which you all ready read Carey run.) Carey run on the x-men is best in my opinion. He fixed all the bad/lazy writing that past writers did to Iceman, Cannonball, Rogue & Gambit & gave them growth. (It like he just get the characters & take them place were they should been longer before now.

Rouge is currently in X-Men: Legacy(the thinking man/woman x-book) the 208-216 are about the Prof.X after MC. Rouge pop up a few times in those issues(which leads up to her arc) also Gambit is in few of the issues of 208-216. 217-218 is a crossover with Wolverine Origins which was called Original Sin (I enjoy the crossover very much) 219 is Prof.X & Juggernaut story (which ties up the lose end of X-men: world war Hulk & Juggernaut X-Men: Manifest Destiny story the to other story I like a lot) 220 is the being of Rouge becoming the main focus & when her arc start.

re Cable: for Cable read Carey run on the X-men issues !90-200 & X-Men Annual (which take place after 193 I think also Rouge is team leader & one of the main focus) http://www.comicvine.com/x-men-annual-covenant/37-106389/
After MC Cable got his own series call Cable (Vol.3) which i like it basically about him, hope & Bishop after MC. http://www.comicvine.com/cable/49-20805/
Also read King-Size Cable Spectacular (which takes place after 5 of Cable vol3 before issue 6 of cable vol3 ) http://www.comicvine.com/king-size-cable-spectacular/49-22978/

re: Colossus he came back of course in Astonishing 4& 5 (had a subplot there out 6-24 & Giant-Size Astonishing X-Men) He had a mini after he came back in which he traces his roots http://www.comicvine.com/x-men-colossus-bloodline/49-18699/ I guessing you saw what he did in MC. he became a main characters in Uncanny starting at 495-507 (where he was mostly depressed about what happen to Kitty in Giant-Size Astonishing X-Men ) He & Kurt both had great X-Men: Manifest Destiny stories being sad about what happen to Kitty. In 507he basically man up lol & remember hey I got a little sister stuck in hell I'd probably should get to doing something about that. So after he get it together after 507 leads us to X-Infernus (which was a get story in my opinion) http://www.comicvine.com/x-infernus/49-24079/

Re: Wolverine I really like Wolverine: Origins. http://www.comicvine.com/wolverine-origins/49-18130/ (which stared after HoM) It basically about Logan learning & remembering his past (because in the HOM of he got his memories back) before you read Wolverine: Origins you should read Wolverine Vol 3 36-40 takes right after it Wolverine: Origins. Most of Wolverine: Vol.3 is great in my opinion (accept 50-55 & 57-61). http://www.comicvine.com/wolverine/49-10809/

Get Mystique! (62-65)takes place right after MC(its was a great story arc in my opinion)staring with 66 it starts Old Man Logan story arc with is different reality Logan. Logan is the field leader of X-Force & a member of The New Avengers http://www.comicvine.com/wolverine/29-1440/the-new-avengers/49-11497/

That's my problem.
Worst powers ever.

Then I suspect you might not have read the book. Even Skin's power was used in some amazing ways, like when he took down the X-Cutioner solo. Or Chamber's bio-blasts (which gave him an amazing design). He took down a dragon solo with those. Or Husk's multi-purpose metamorophic abilities. M's psychic potential, Jubilee using her LACK of control over her powers to outwit Emplate... Synch using his powers on well... everyone, to duplicate the powers of friends, and foes... Plus Emma's telepathy and Sean's sonic powers (which he had tons of power feats with them).

But, if that kept you from enjoying it... that's fine.

re X-23 : well its was written my CC & she really didn't say or do all that much in the stories but meet Kurt, Storm & etc.

Because they get gay bashed and then randomly disregarded after they've served their purpose. The Mayor only exists because she's banging the Angel on the side. She's received a saving grace until she, too, is inevitably gay bashed.

I also take umbrage with creating a status quo in that "Attending a Dazzler show" = "Inevitable hate crime."

1st Fraction Dazzler concert: GAY BASHING!!!!

2nd Fraction Dazzler concert: THA RED QUEEN APPEARS AND RUINS IT!

I do not approve. I bet the third time she has one, Northstar will be gaybashed and then dominated by the Red Queen!
