What some good arcs that are summed up in a short number of issues? 1,2,3 or at most 4? The shorter the better. I don't care what series I just wanna get a few more stories that won't be too expensive but will be a good read.

Any one issue tale that is at least worth reading would be great.

Any 2 to 3 issue tale as well I'd probably be interested in

4 issue tales can be recommended but only if its a great great story. Mediocre 4 issue stories can be left out whole mediocre stores with 1-2 issues and worth a read will interest me.

Collected or uncollected doesn't make a big difference, but please specify whether the arc recommended either is or isn't.

In case anyones looking for a reference point stories I've read and loved include:
Hush (loeb/lee)
The long halloween
Battle for the cowl 1/2

I also liked venom, going sane, tdkr, and the killing joke but not as much as the others

And thanks for the help guys I just got into batman comics like a month ago and with all of your help I found a lot of really good books and am very grateful ! You all really helped and without you guys I doubt I'd be so into batman. So thanks again in advance guys and gals.

Faces by Matt Wagner, LotDK 28-30. Excellent Two-Face story. It is collected.

Blades by James Robinson and Tim Sale, LotDK 32-34. Collected in Tales of the Batman: Tim Sale. There's an exciting new hero in Gotham that even Batman likes... but there's been a rash of murders and thefts as well.

Mask by Bryan Talbot, LotDK 39-40. Collected in a volume entitled Dark Legends. Twisted tale in which a psychologist captures and drugs Batman, and makes him question everything about his reality.

Batman #521 & #522 ("Fast Train To The Wet Dark" & "Swamp Things")- Killer Croc is sprung from Arkham by an unseen benefactor. Batman tracks him all the way out to Louisiana, but before long must contend not just with a resistant Croc, but also Croc's new ally (see in the above story titles for a clue to his identity). And probably should've been the last Killer Croc story, come to think of it.

Batman #530-532 ("The Deadman Connection")- A suicide at the scene of a black-market sale of priceless Incan artifacts may have mystical origins. As Batman ponders this, everyone's favorite body-hoppin' ectoplasmic ex-acrobat comes calling, with a case of his own that may be connected. One trip to Peru later, and the last remenants of the Incan society is at last uncovered... as well as the mercenaries who plot to rob them blind and leave no witnesses.

Batman: Legends Of The Dark Knight #156-158 ("Blink")- A deadly snuff film operation's in town, but neither Batman nor the GCPD can quite pinpoint it's source. So enter Lee Hyland: a blind grifter with an unusual-- some would say supernatural-- method for pulling off his scams. And as Hyland one day inadvertantly enters the grisly film crew's (gun)sights, will Batman & Gordon find their way in?

Batman: Legends Of The Dark Knight #164-167 ("Don't Blink")- Blink 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Detective Comics #784-786 ("Made Of Wood")- A man turns up dead in the park, and the details of his murder seem to be eerily similar to a dead-end, high-profile killing spree in Gotham 5 decades before (one that even claimed the city's Mayor at the time). Luckily, Batman may have some help from the man who worked the original case: Golden Age-Green Lantern Alan Scott.

Heat (Legends of the Dark Knight #46-49) - A great story if you like Catwoman/Batman interaction. Catman is a serial killer in this one.

Victims (Batman #414,421-422) - A good Batman vs "normal" villain story, especially the first part that explores what happens when Bruce lets himself take a murder too personally and it affects his detective work. Bad guy is penned by the GCPD as the "dumpster killer".

Detective 566, Batman 400- Batman vs Ra's and almost all of Batman's villains. Ra's breaks all the villains out of Arkham.

Batman 423- Single issue story. 3 police officers trade Batman stories.

Batman 431- Single issue story. Batman vs ninjas, ninjas that trained under a master that Batman trained under.

Detective Comics 590- Single issue story. Batman vs. Islamic terrorists. One of my personal favs, relevant today.

Detective Comics 614- Single issue story. Batman vs. a street gang attempting to turn kids into drug pushers.

Dark Knight, Dark City (Batman 452-454)- Fan favorite Riddler story about black magic.

You need to order The Collected Legends of the Dark Knight tpb. it's hard to find in stories.

it includes two classic arcs featuring Poison Ivy and the Cavalier, one being illustrated by Tim Sale (Long Halloween). The arcs are 3 and 4 issues each.
