Mystique is not known for her motherly traits. Perhaps she knows something Cable and Bishop don't?

After all, it was at her behest that Rogue's sleeping body came into contact with Hope.

Is it possible that Bishop is right and that Hope is a little ball of evil? Is Cable protecting the wrong person? After all, doesn't Rogue possess all the power and potential of the Messiah?

Is Rogue the Messiah?

Rogue's shinning at the end of the last issue. Plus all that fire in the new direction cover. She DID touch Hope. What if she has her powers now?

Mystique is smarter than Cable and Bishop 7 days a week. They're both pretty big boneheads.

I don't think Rogue is the messiah though.

When Messiah Complex was first advertised, Rogue was up front and center with the X-men. I actually thought she may be the Messiah then. She was currently housing 8 billion souls in her head. Who better to repower an entire species than a woman who could hold all of their powers in her body?

No.

She was specifically mentioned having no powers and personalities after Hope touched her.

What I was hoping for was that Rogue would have come out of MC as Amalgam and thus in a small ways became the receptacle of mutant energies, which would have made perfect sense if you know the character, the build up of Rogue's character prior to MC, Destiny and Mystique being part of Amalgam and all.

But nope, I don't think Rogue is a messiah figure.

Mystique's 100 years of planning culminating in saving a daughter she wouldn't get to meet some 80 years after Destiny's first predictions was a major disappointment for me.

The OP obviously hasn't read Messiah Complex properly. The baby wasn't the Messiah - Bishop was.

I really hope Gambit/Rogue/Danger isnt the "new direction" of Legacy. Rogue being the Messiah would be pretty cool though, Hope has hardly been a whirlwind of excitement so far.

Yes there is a reason but you have to have the intelligence to figure it out. I am not confident that you do.

Rogue couldn't even contain Mojo, what hope would she have with the next Phoenix? I mean, she's not Ink.

Also, I'm disappointed this isn't a Nate Grey thread. He's just "sleeping". :/

These days I'm "sleeping messier" than anyone I know. Legs akimbo, covers thrown hither and thither, pillows scrunched up, and occasionally I drool. Tis a sight to behold indeed.

rogue absorbed sunfire to the point where she had his powers as much as she had those of ms. marvel. but if she was depowered by the baby...i don't know.

possibly something about the kiss with the baby being a "reboot" for rogue in the sense that she can call on any one of her previous powers to use, but reflects aspects of that certain personality more (i.e. blue for mystique). maybe that leads to her "realization" and that's the new "direction" the book will take...didn't carey always say his plans for her were huge? i don't think rogue is the messiah though.
