Sounds like it's gonna be a pretty busy year. Also sounds like it's gonna be a real good year to be a DC fan. So what's getting you all excited?

For me, the Wednesday comic concept is looking really cool. I've got a couple of issues left of the final 52 trade to read, so I'm looking forward to reading something weekly as and when it comes out. That and 12 weeks sounds a hell of a lot easier on my pockets than 52 weeks. Superman; Secret Origins is something I'm looking forward to quite a bit. How about everybody else?

2009 will be great:

1) The Black Night/Green lantern/green lantern corps
2) New JSA creative team and direction
3) Superman: secret origin (the legion!)
4) Animal man mini series and powergirl ongoing
5) All the new batman books, especially Rucka's and morrison's books/
6) More secret six
7) New JLA Mini by James Robinson
8) More Flash Rebirth

1. Rucka's Batwoman arc on TEC
2. Quitely and Morrison on B&R

That's about it. But those two books are my most anticipated from any company.

1. Rucka's Detective Comics. Rucka's a great writer, I love JH Williams and The Question is in the back-up feature with Cully Hamner on art. That's an amazing package right there.

2. Blackest Night. Johns has been building up to this for a while now and if it's anywhere near as good as Rebirth and Sinestro Corps War then it will be the standard event of the year.

3. Wednesday Comics. An interesting and appealing idea with some incredible creative teams.

4. Blue Beetle backups in Booster Gold. Love both series and now I can get them in the one book.

5. The rest of Astro City: The Dark Age. Astro City is consistently the best book on the market and I'm always excited when new issues come out

I'm cautiously optimistic about JSA and Batman and Robin but I'm not necessarily looking forward to them.

I'd say "Blackest Night", but I'd be afraid someone would think there's a bad echo in here...

To be honest, DC is doing well to get my interest all around. The only books I can think of that don't have anything to make me say, "Oh, I can't forget to pick that up on the way from work." would be Teen Titans, JLA, and JSA.

Can't stand TT. It'll take a miracle to save that one in my eyes.

JLA and JSA are good, but I don't feel anything exciting to capture my attention.

1) Green Lantern: Blackest Night
2) Flash: Rebirth
3) Superman: Secret Origin
4) Adventure Comics ( Featuring the new Legion )

... Hey, look at that. Everything here is by Geoff Johns...

I'm pretty pumped for the Vertigo Crime OGNs, particularly Ian Rankin's Dark Entries featuring John Constantine.

Dean Motter and Paul Rivoche have an issue of The Spirit coming out in a few months, and if there was ever a team perfectly ideal for this title, it's Motter and Rivoche.

Wednesday Comics definitely has my attention. Just the idea of Mike Allred doing Metamorpho piqued my interest, but then to learn that Neil Gaiman was writing it... then seeing Kyle Baker's Hawkman pages... then seeing the list of talent involved... then that Green Lantern teaser that Kurt Busiek revealed... wow, I seriously can't wait for this!

Speaking of Busiek, I can't wait for the restart of Astro City: The Dark Age. Love the story of the Williams brothers.

Finally, I cave: I'm pretty psyched for Blackest Night.

Blackest Night is an obvious one. Been waiting for that since they started sprinkling the prophecy about.

I'm also really excited to see Paul Dini write Gotham City Sirens. Three of my favorite characters written by one of my favorite writer in a single monthly book. Awesome. Also, Grag Rucka doing Detective Comics with Batwoman. I'm so glad she's finally getting a running series. And having a Question/Renee Montoya story in there is also awesome.

Wonder Woman has been phenomenal, and I can't wait to see where Gail Simone takes Diana in 2009 (and hopefully for many many years beyond). I wish they'd do a Donna Troy co-feature in Wonder Woman.

Power Girl, Batman & Robin, and Animal man are some other things I'm looking forward to.

Forgot Wednesday Comics. Sounds pretty exciting!

Its already come and gone - Warlord.

Well, there's issues #2-9 so...

JSA was also on that list. But even Jesus himself (reincarnated even) probably can't save that title.

Robinson's JLA - I can just tell it will be what JLA ongoing should be

Batman Relaunch - I am looking forward to each and every title. Especially Batman and Robin

Superman - All the titles are fantastic right now

Blackest Night - I include everything tied into it. This story is going to be epic.

Flash - I really can't wait to see what Rebirth brings.

- Batman & Robin
- Batwoman in Detective Comics
- Blackest Night

That's a lot of great books

Back-ups...I mean co-features!
I don't get Teen Titans but I buy every other book that will have them. And for some reason this makes me happy. Also, Doom Patrol, for the above and also because it's Doom Patrol.

All the new Batbooks especially Sirens -- who doesn't want more Harley and Catwoman? I am so excited I will even be open minded about Winnick on Batman

Who will be Batgirl?

Rutka on 'Tec

More and More Secret Six

Wednesday Comics -- just the concept makes me really happy and the first pages look really good

Co-features!!!

Thought a lot of people might've been quite sceptical about the co-features, surprising to see the support they're getting. I'm looking forward to the Question one most, Action and Detective are the only series' I get out of titles thatll have the co-features - though I'll be checking out Streets of Gotahm for sure. When I heard about the price bump-ups and the co-features, I wasn't too keen on the idea. Now I've heard what the co-featrues will be, I can't wait. I know Marvel has been bumping up prices on some ongoings to $3.99, I dunno if they're gonna have more pages as a result? But with the DC books ,your'e getting something pretty cool for the extra money.

Looking forward to new style Detective and Streets of Gotham. I'll be giving them a three month trial at the very least. That will take my mainstream DC titles to three. (Jonah Hex being the other one.)

I agree with others that the co-features are a darn good idea. They actually mean that the cost per page of story is cheaper for the $3.99 (32 page) comics than the $2.99 (22 page) ones. The catch, of course, is that you've got to want the extra feature.

I find it encouraging that DC have seemingly given a lot of thought to which extra feature should go to each comic, and put strong creative teams on them. It'll be interesting to see how they work out... and we'll no doubt all swap views on them in future threads.

Most everyone else echos my sentiments so I'll add on a Vertigo title I'm looking forward to:

The Unwritten

Don't know much about it, saw the first two page preview and I'm looking forward to it.

The Unwritten sounds cool, and the first issue is for 1 dollar. In ireland that would be about 2 euro but well worth it.

My LCS is selling the first issues of powergirl and animal man this summer for 2 euro each.

Hawkman
04-17-2009, 12:49 PM
Blackest Night and Wednesday Comics. I'm hoping the former puts an end to the identity mystery of Hawkman Starlin created in his Special last year (as DiDio implied to me that it would), but disregarding that completely, I'm still expecting it to be a great event. And Wednesday Comics just sounds like pure fun to me.

I'm looking forward to this as well. I haven't been impressed with much that Carey has done since Lucifer concluded (I tried with Crossing Midnight, but I just couldn't connect with it), but the premise of this book has a lot of promise. And I'll generally seek out anything that Peter Gross does.

Off the top of my head: Wednesday Comics, Morrison and Quitely's Batman and Robin, Blackest Night, Rucka's and Williams III's run on 'Tec, Superman: Secret Origin and World of New Krypton, the Question and Blue Beetle back-ups, Power Girl, and the return of Astro City.

...Two things:

1) Blackest Night, which just might make up for the total debacle that Final Crisis was.

2) Some hitherto unforseen event failure that won't be Blackest Night that will result in the firing of Dan Didio.
