So after 33 years and 374 issues , Starlog Magazine is ending . Due to the problems with the economy. I would flip thru it in my local Borders at times . Gonna be sad to see a long time magazine go away like Starlog.

Sad to say I had no idea it was still around.

Ah, what a shame. Growing up in the '80s, Starlog was my bible. In those pre-internet days, it was THE source for sci-fi tv & movie news. Sort of ironic that sci-fi is now so mainstream that we no longer need a specialized magazine to cover it.

Issue 375 will be made available as a digital only release.

The site is up and active and being updated which is how I guess it is going to continue forward.
They keep saying it is a "temporary cessation" of the print publishing but I just don't ever see it coming back.
And for that I'm sad. I don't care what you can get in other magazines or on the Net. Starlog was and is a great magazine.

Sad news.
I have been reading Starlog since before the first Superman film back in the 70s.

to be honest I only read a few Star Wars issues before I discovered the internet but what I read I loved. I wish all the people there well, and I hope they all move on to greener pastures.

I'm surprised they didn't opt to do what some other pubs are doing and switch to an advertiser based web only model. There isn't big money in that admittedly, but it would still have been better than nothing. Cut the staff to a bare minimum and try to intrest one of the big online media conglomerates to buy into their brand name.
EDIT - Oh. I just went back to read Deathstroke's post. That DOES appear to be their plan, minus common sense additions like "not bothering to go back to physical print" and "hooking up with another bigger company".

any kind of audience for fan magazines such as this. Their news is way out of date by the time they go to press and you can find any pictures they publish on-line as well and download them for yourself.
I think entertainment and news analysis magazines will survive and others that offer unique content but Starlog won't be the last to go under. It's more the price of paper and printing that is driving them under than anything else.
