I used to be terribly insomniac where I'd only sleep a few hours a night and then after about a week I'd catch up on all the hours I was missing. Not so much, these days, as the meds I'm on now ensure a good night's sleep, plus I have a really comfy bed.
Sometime I don't feel like getting up at all.

I managed twelve hours once.
the sickest i've ever remembered (not counting as a child - under 9 y.o.) I've been out for almost 2 days.
I think I made it 1 1/2 days, then got up to get either water or use the bathroom, then I was out again.

Without medication/surgery/illness?
26 hours......I remember waking up, turning on the television, and seeing a basketball game on. I thought to myself, "That's odd....Guess they're doing full game replays in the morning now."
I step out of my bedroom and see people over. I asked them, "Did you guys come by last night? I wouldn't have expected you to come by in the morning." ........They laughed, saying they came by during the day and I've been asleep the entire time.
The whole thing felt like a dream, and I was still in a haze.......I then double-checked on the date & time, and it was 26 hours after I had gone to sleep.

When I'm sick I sleep. Ever since I was little, that is how my body heals itself. So, I've had some long stretches of sleep when I've been really ill.
Last year I was having horrible insomnia, and my doctor gave me some Ambien. I took half of the dose, and slept for 24 hours.
I typically get about 6 hours of sleep on a weekday. If I have no need to get up in the mornings, I will sleep about 10 hours a night. My life is made up of constantly trying to make up the difference from the amount of sleep my body needs, and the amount of sleep my body actually gets. Thus, caffeine is my lifeblood.

I'm lucky if I make it past 9 hours.

A few days before I moved, my friends and I stayed up for a little over 2 days straight, watching anime, gaming, and just hanging out. When I got to my grandparents house, I went into the guest room, and slept for like 20 hours.

Catching up after a week of interrupted sleep on night duty, I once crashed for ten hours straight.

16 hours, though this was post surgery and with the aid of drugs.
Without drugs I'd say 11-12 hours.
10 hours isn't odd for me at all.

I think my record is something like 17 hours, maybe.
When I'm sick I sleep. Ever since I was little, that is how my body heals itself.
Lucky you, I'm the other way around. I hate sleeping when I'm sick because I always get strange dreams and wake up in the middle of the night wondering where I am. ><

9-10 hours is what I sleep on a normal night, provided I'm allowed to wake up by myself.

Straight sleep? No waking up then going back to sleep again? Probably 10 hours.
With waking up and going back to sleep again, about 16 hours--super-full class load (18 units, so 6 classes in one semester), finals, and working for the school paper makes for a wasted day of catch-up sleep.

The longest I've ever slept had to be 12 hours. I went to take a nap at around 5 in the afternoon, and I was doozing in and out of sleep for most of the later afternoon. However, I remember falling to sleep, and suddenly waking up in the morning around 6 A.M. wondering where the night had gone. Honestly, never felt more refreshed in my entire life.
There's a very interesting theory of sleep that my dad was telling, which is found in Chinese Daoist practice, related to yin/yang energy. Surprisingly, some medical reports have actually backed up some of these ideas. I'll try and talk with him later today and see what's it all about.

I think the longest I've slept is around 14 or so. One of those times when I went to sleep at 11 PM and didn't fully wake up until 1 PM.
I do think it'd be kind of neat to completely sleep through a day, though.

21 hours once. But that was after four shots of Cherry NyQuil to beat down a flu.
I woke up to pee, and was up for two hours before heading back to bed for another six.

I look forward to reading about it.
I remember reading about supposed results on sleep deprivation research. They claimed the subject's internal organs aged abnormally after being awake for a certain amount of days.

I literally cannot sleep for more than 4 - 6 hours at a time, no matter how hard I try

16 hours for me. I live on about 5 per night, but I had pulled two all nighters in a row and slept 16 straight. Didn't even wet the bed. :)

Are you a nicotine guy? I find nicotine to be the worst thing in the world for consecutive hours of sleep.

Just talked with my dad about this. Hopefully, I'll be able to do his explanation justice. He told me that Daoists began to realize that there are certain hours when people should begin to sleep and in a way kinda reminded me of something I read in my old texts and articles concerning Chinese views on cosmology. It turns out that there are hours that are designated as being "yang" and "yin." During the hours of great "yang" (midnight to noon), there is a quickening and invigorating influence on activity. During the hours of "yin" (noon to midnight), there is a dampening influence on activity and liveliness. I believe these two periods of time are further subdivided into hours when either "yin" or "yang" are ascending, descending, equal, or totally one or the other. Ultimately, I think that it would be better to operate and be awake during "yang" hours rather than "yin" hours.
My dad further elaborated on this and said that Daoists also recognized that the body itself begins to naturally feel tired around 9 PM and begins to wake up again around 4 or 5 AM. This is the crucial point. Indeed, there is a period of 8 hours b/w 9 to 5. There is a period of 8 hours b/w 12 AM to 8 AM. These two 8 hr. periods, however, are not equal amounts of sleep. My dad says that sleeping from 9 to 5 is better than sleeping from 12 to 8. W/ the former, you'll definitely feel more refreshed and rested than w/ the latter.
My dad further said that after reading certain sleep studies published in medical journals as well as asking some of his doctor colleagues, there is some substance to this phenomenon. Around 9 PM the "sleeping center" in our brains begins to kick in, while the "waking center" begins to shut down. Around 5 AM, (you guessed it), the opposite is true.
After that, he talked about the 4 stages of sleep and R.E.M, but I'll leave that explanation to someone else. Basically, I think he was saying that people should sleep at more appropriate times rather than go against them. (Yeah, I understand the irony, I'm typing this while its 12 AM EST. Never been too much of a good Daoist  )
