This made such a great addition to the "Does the Universe have a plan" thread, I hope you don't mind if I quoted you with it over there. :smile:
And thanks for posting this---it's fascinating. I'll come back and comment more on it later---but for now, just say that I love seeing reports on new, interesting scientific discoveries like this.

Sigh. Right now people are pretty much ignoring it, because they're hung up on a misunderstanding of the definition of "sentience" (as opposed to "intelligence" and "cognitive thought")---even though I posted the Merriam-Webster's definition of "sentience."

When you think that technically, the internet could've existed at any time, it took us thoulsands of years to figure it out. All it took was the right tools and the knowledge. It's obvious we don't have the answers to everything yet.

Yeah, but after years of having nerds being beaten down for calling other people names to their faces, it was invented out of a need for survival.
