Regarding who will be donning the cowl of the Red Robin:

So Aquaman is out?

Ooh, that’s interesting. You’re getting into spoiler territory [laughs

Well, fudge......I had it pegged as Arthur Curry, lol.

I'm looking forward to this. Detective/Batman is a lock for me to pick up with Red Robin and Batman and Robin filling out the next two slots.

Arthur Curry as Red Robin is exactly the level of twists and turns we plan to deliver! Just not that specific twist. :)

PS, I don't know where the 'Kingdom Come Red Robin went mad' thing came from, I don't remember saying that (although it's completely possible I did, because I'm like that), but I'm pretty certain that's not the case. So, apologies to Mark Waid/Alex Ross.

Thanks to Jeffrey for doing such a kick ass interview!

Wow this sounds like it could really be good. Bachs is a rising star, and deservingly so. And Yost has kicked ass with his work on x-force and the X-men Animated series.

is this gonna have that edge that x-force has? most dc series seem to play it safe, I'm looking at you JLA.

Hah! I got it! I GOT IT! It's going to be Wally West, isn't it? After all, with the main Flash position being occupied by Barry Allen, Wally has time to direct his attention elsewhere...

he sounds like a nice guy.

I might consider getting this title as it sounds more interesting now.

We all know it's Tim, he's already used the costume.

You know, I was jesting about the Wally West thing, but if Red Robin is searching for Bruce Wayne and Bruce is stuck in 1 million B.C. (or whenever), having a speedster known for his time-traveling exploits around would be handy...

This sounds pretty damn cool. I will wait and see who's under the mask to decide if i'll pick it up. So many bat books, so little monies

It's clear it's Tim.

Tim's new Robin costume reflected his growth away from previous Robins and closer to Bruce's "side of things," if you will.

And that new costume was patterned after the Earth-2 Robin who, despite being that universe's Dick Grayson, was nonetheless a Robin who became his own man.

Final bit of evidence: Tim's Robin costume matches Red Robin's color scheme.

Thus Tim Drake=Red Robin.

Now that that's out of the way, will this series be any good? There's the more important question.

It looks interesting, though I'll reserve judgment until it's released. Definitely seems worth looking at though. The only thing that's annoying me is that it appears DC won't be releasing the identities of the characters under the masks until the June issues - and if BfC ends without at least giving us the identity of the new Batman I will be more than slightly annoyed.

I'm still going to at least look at all the new Bat-books.

Also isn't Tim the only character at this point to still beleive Bruce is still alive ? I'm pretty sure is was mentioned by Alfred and Dick that he washaving a hard time accepting Bruce's death. I just don't remember what book it was in, maybe a Nightwing issue.

It's clearly going to be Barbara Gordon.

It's clearly going to be Barbara Gordon.

That's a guess if ever i saw one.

Wally West is also supposed to get a "new costume" pretty soon.

That being said...I still think/hope that it is Tim.

I'm giving every Bat-title in June a shot (minus Outsiders, cause I don't think that really counts) but this one is definitely sounding more and more appealing. Seems like it's going to offer something a little different then the rest of the Bat-books which will be a nice change of pace.

Does sort of make you wonder, though... New X-Men gained fame for killing half its cast members, and X-Force features "heroes" specifically sent out to murder villains. Given that, it would almost have to be Jason Todd under that mask, you'd think.

Can't wait to see the new wally Flash costume

It looks interesting but my only problem is that it'll be about Tim becoming his own man which would be nice if he didn't take on the Name Red Robin. A Robin's still a Robin as far as I'm concerned. If he want's to be his own person why not do like Dick and something new?

The premise of the story just reads Tim.
It's a detective story.
He's the 'detective' of the Robins.
It just fits.

This book's looking to be one of the top new Bat books coming out in june.

Cool interview. I can't say if I'll be interested in this series or not, not til I know who the cast is but it's cool to see you doing some DC work Chris.

Now if this was Yost on a Tim or Cass book I'd be all over that.

I'm holding off until I see some preview art and get a few more details (I would not be interested in reading a Jason Todd book), but I figure, at the very least, I'll be picking this up in trade.

I'm so, so excited for this. Red Robin is just a fantastic visual, so for the great looking character alone I would probably check this out. Add in the fact that Yost, co-writer of some of the best X-work over the last few years, and I'm pretty much frothing.

Awesome news for you Chris! Well done. (Also awesome news for you Batfans). As long as you're not leaving us at Marvel, Chris. The X-verse needs you! (and Craig of course).

Amen to that one. Say what you want about the whole RIP thing but these follow up books have me more intrigued and the funny thing is that the one I was looking forward to the least now sounds like the more intiguing of the lot. I do hope that there will be more deep character scenes to go with the whole Bourne kind of action.

I am getting this for no other reason than Chris Yost is writing it and it's a book about Tim, probably the most interesting character in Gotham besides Bruce.

This is very good news. Now we just need an issue of All-star, and this summer with DC will be magical.

I’ll stay for as long as they’ll have me around. After the first 12, it will need to re-invent itself but there are an infinite number of stories to tell.

In my mind, this pretty much confirms the fact that Bruce will be back in a year.

Chris Yost
04-14-2009, 09:44 PM
Not necessarily. It just means I have to come up with an issue 13. :)

Anyone else love how Yost pretty much guarentees that Bruce is coming back in 12 months? I mean, beyond the fact that each one of the June series are slated to carry a 12-issue arc, there's also the fact that Batman 700 is coming up in around a year's time and Morrison said he's planned up until the end of 2010.

everyone already guessed the 12 months thing already

Batman 700 is out in about that much time

HopeLantern is right, besides Bruce Tim is the most interesting character.
