Hi all,
I am an antique dealer and in buying out an estate came across a few large boxes of comic books.. I was wondering why there are no bar codes on them. The woman I got these from said that her husband would by these from a dealer before they were sent to stores.. I am going to sell these, but want to know the proper name for this type of book.. Many thanks..

I suspect you are asking about comics that have a box for a bar code but there is a picture of Spiderman or a DC logo or some words in the box instead of a bar code.

These are comics that were sold directly to comic book shops as opposed to bar code comics which were sold on newstands and in candy and drug stores.

The box without a bar code is usually called a Direct Sales comic and the comics with a bar code are usually called Newstand comics.

There is no difference in value between the bar code comics and the ones with the box, but no bar code.
