Hey guys, I've been away from comics for a while and I was wondering what was going on with Ghost Rider? Are they canceling the current series?

I hope they're not cancelling it! I've certainly not read of any cancellation on the horizon.

I think we're getting Ghost Rider 34 and 35, along with the Heavens on Fire Mini. Where ghost rider will go on hiatus until further notice.

Dont read it, they messed up Ghost Rider by turning him into some stupid holy knight thing. Just wait to the next series comes up and hope they retcon all this crap.

It's going to be around for the next two months, then a month off, then on again for six more months (as a mini). After that, they haven't said.

I read it because i LOOOOOOOOOOVEE G rider, G rider, along with Wolverine, are the reasons i started reading comics and this new holly stuff is not Ghost Rider. It might be an interesting story in any other book but not in Ghost Rider.

It might not be the Ghost Rider that got you into comics, but for the first time, people are actually paying attention to this title due to the superb story-telling.
The only thing that's stopping people from reading this title was the questionable art, that I loved, but most people didn't like.
Ghost Rider has become the kick-ass book that I look forward to every month.
What irritates me is that I'm going to have to pay $3.99 for it. But if it gets more people reading this awesome title, then so be it. I'll pay it.
The problem is, once Jason Aaron leaves, then I'm probably going to leave as well. The creative team would have be freaking amazing. Someone like Ed Brubaker would keep my on the title. Garth Ennis would be a good choice too.
And that's the problem with Ghost Rider. No one has really done anything worthwhile with this title ever. That's why most people don't read it. Jason Aaron is taking Ghost Rider into uncharted territory. And that's always a good thing.

For the first time?
G Rider has had two volumes before this that went on for a long time dude, what you talking about . The only reason he isn't a big player or well known is because he is usually stuck in his world or the magic that isnt delve into that much now.

Ok let me put it more bluntly.
For every comic book fan that loved Ghost Rider, there were 100 comic book fans that would never even pick up and look at a Ghost Rider comic. Much less buy it.
For the first time, something worth talking about is actually happening.

You keep saying "for the first time" like Ghost Rider never existed before this book.
The only thing happening for the firs time here is a horrible retcon that turned the character into something completely different.

When I say for the first time, I'm saying that everything that came before Jason Aaron's run in Ghost Rider wasn't even worth reading.
And nothing has been retconned. Ghost rider is still a spirit of Vengence. Ghost rider continuity now incorporates all world religions.

Yes, yes, you are a superfan of the series, understandable, but that doesnt change the facts of the character.

The character has only been expanded upon. Nothing has changed.
He's still hell on wheels. It just turns out that the power he thought he received from the Devil in exchange for his soul, actually originated from the order of Angels.
Fallen angels like Zadikel, who were in charge of guiding ghost riders as spirit's of vengence on Earth.

What are you guys' opinions of issues 24 and 25 of the series? The previews look interesting but many reviews say they don't end as well as they begin.
The problem is, once Jason Aaron leaves, then I'm probably going to leave as well. The creative team would have be freaking amazing. Someone like Ed Brubaker would keep my on the title. Garth Ennis would be a good choice too.
Ditto. Aarson is the only reason I'm even considering giving it a chance right now. I picked up issue 33 and was surprised at how good it was. It was purchase made purely on a fanatics recommendation I can I understand why they're so avid about the book. I feel I missed something worth the cash and am looking to go back and pick up what I've missed. Theres is some hesitation to do so, however, and its mostly due to the news that Aaron will no longer be around after the upcoming mini. Without him, I doubt I'll give a crap about the title anymore. It'll suck even more if the past issue are as good as so many say they are.

Not a fan of storylines or hell...whole volumes being ignored but in this case it might be best. They might be able to salvage things if they find a way to redeem Danny Ketch.
I think GR will have trouble selling as long as he don't have a midnight suns world to interact with.

In MSL it was the devil that cursed Johnny Blaze
then it was methestio that bond a rival demon to Johnny.
then it was reviled that Nobel Kyle possesses his dissidents as a ghost rider, the reason why Danny got the powers was cause his and Johnny's mother (also a ghost rider) made a deal with Metphesto so Johnny wouldn't become that GR. he agreed, but true to his natural he twisted the agreement to fit his needs. Then it went back to Satan with Ennis mini then it turns out that Haven made him a Spirit of vengeance to piss off the devil which explains why he had some powers after Big Z was no longer bonded to him in GR vol 2 and Midnight sons

How does Satan getting his name changed to Mephisto because of the comics code and finding out the nature of the curse retcon anything?

What is Ghost Rider other than an other-worldly Punisher. Maybe that's the focus he needs back. That's essentially what he was in the 90's at the height of his run.
Ennis let GR break every bone in Scarecrow's body. He can write 'ole flamehead any time he wants.

marvel didn't want one of their heroes to be connected to the Occult. If you've read the old stories it had a lot of devil worshiping going on.
The Danny Ketch Ghost Rider and the John Blaze Ghost Rider are two different characters. One does not retcon the other.
other then the fact that they are brothers while half way threw the series they weren't. and their mothers Dealing with The big M caused him to take a special interest in Johnny and trick him when the time is right, thus screwing over Johnny's Mother while in no way braking the contract with her.
Screw Ennis.

That your bitching about a retcon on character that has been retcon multiple times. and the fact your haven't even looked at the series after Aaron took over, proves how close minded, well that and your Irish bashing. ( racist bastard:mad: )
I thought They were going to go down the road they tried with Punisher. I came into that issue ready to bitch and moan and came out loving it. It is good, it is old school rider with a grude looking for some payback.

3. When was it stated as fact that i havent looked at the series after Aaron?
4. When have i "Irish bashed"?
The only fact here is that you are making stuff up left and right for whatever weird reason you have over there. Also, I suggest you calm down with your assumptions about what i have and havent done.

I grew up with Danny as the Ghost Rider, and a while back went searching for back issues. I ended up with the entire Blaze and Ketch collection via one of those Marvel cd's. I had one hell of a nostalgic trip. Even read through the early Blaze collection. Unless my reading comprehension is seriously faulty, DeadXMan is right about the retcons, and I agree with his points so far.
Well except for Danny being a poor mans rider. I completely disagree with that point.

A shame the Ghost Rider will stop when the Limites Series start`s.
It is one of the monthly titles i was buying.
Although technaclly there is still the Limited Series after the ongoing title stops.
So no reason to complain.

The series was okay. Mostly it's just flaming skulls and bikes. Which is always fun, and which my life also has been short on as of late. Them turning Danny into a retarded asshole kinda turned me off the series though.

GR's personality can be supplanted but can't be influenced by his host. It's fully formed in and of itself. He'll function the same whether hosting Ketch or Blaze. So it just brings the question of 'what' you want GR to be. I feel he works better as a character when his personality isn't supplanted by his host.

I just hope the writer who takes over for Jason Aaron is well known. I'm not going to stick around if I don't recognize the writer. That's just the way it goes.
