(...and being instrumental in her later joining the X-Men)
As everyone knows, while Rogue was with the Brotherhood, she tried to absorb ROM's abilities. Instead, she absorbed part of ROM's inherent goodness and for the first time in her life, gained a feeling of nobility. As stated before, this was fundamental of her later joining the X-Men, in which she has become a very popular X-Man and vital part of X-history since then. So if not for that, Rogue may have still been running around as a villain or in the Brotherhood till this day. I just wanted to point this out.

She also absorbed a Dire Wraith later. Is that why Rogue is a morally ambiguous figure?
Wait........so Rogue was only good because she absorbed some guy's goodness. Well, that makes me like the character less

If you "like" being good, then goodness is not the aim of your actions; pleasure is. If pleasure is your motive, then your actions cannot be considered disinterested. If your "good" actions are not disinterested, then your ends cannot be considered "good." St. Thomas Aquinas 101.
Ergo, absorbing Rom did not make Rogue "good."

Actually, it was more like a cyborg suit. Once you went through the transformation, you ceased being human. The armor actually replaces a lot of your organs (they're kept somewhere until the war is over and you're finished fighting).

Wait a minute. Didnt Rogue touch Ms. Marvel and suck her brains out before Rom. Wasnt that where her first appearance was so how do you know it wasnt Ms. Marvels self that started Rogue being good?
Just for the record, she didn't become good 'because she absorbed his goodness and kept it'! This was just the first time in her life she 'saw' someone's nobility up close (Doesn't get much closer than in your head) And to her surprise, she LIKED goodness and nobility. It's very clear from the scene, and frankly from what I can tell, I think that's all []D[]/\/\[]D @ Nite/So-tite meant.
She also didn't absorb all of it (not even temporarily, ROM was partially immune) so she kept a clear sense of her own self. Unlike with Carol, who just got sucked in, throwing her completely for a loop, not able to see what was already her own stuff and what wasn't.
Btw I absolutlely LOVE that ROM story. It's classic 80's. The somewhat cheezy aspects of the dialogue are just bonus. Drinking game: take a shot every time Hybrid is referred to as a 'horror' Two shots if there's an adjective included. ('hulking horror'!)

By the way, for those who didn't read it, Rom was one of the best things Marvel put out in the eighties! i wish they would get those rights and bring him back! Though they would likely ruin the magic, like they have with the X-Men in general these day!
