This just in:

2 Zombies escaped from the HOLLOW transporter room. The head of Deadpool and another Zombie - Simon Garth. (Is this the same Zombie put in the CW 42 prison with Speedball?). So the contageon was not isolated, and in this report we see that Morbius has filled a Will on tape, and it seems someone is playing it back, and somehow Frank Van Lante put it to the written word. (I know. It sounds crazy).
Morbius recounts the mission of the Midnight Sons wo learn the Zomies resurfaced in the Cruise Ship Tranquility, off the South American coast. The MS go to the ship and start killing Zombies, which were infected Fish-Men of the sea, and bitten by Deadpool. Luckily, the MS take care of all the Zombies, (they think), but the ship is on a collision course to Caribbean Island Taino, which just happens to be the current resting place of Simon and Pool. It seems the current warlord is a Zombie Master of some sort and he can get Simon to talk. Very handy.

The MS come across some survivors, which turns out is just another Zombie. Then the Taino Zombie Master, The Black Talon, decides that the Deadpool Zombie carrying the virus is worth something to him, so he calls up the Hood in NY, and asks him to make an offer, because BT has something that can kill off all the super heroes. (Pity the poor fool, thinking money is everything. Once all the super heroes are gone, what kind of world will be left that he can pay for something at the super market?)

There are no teleporting portals in Taino, so there could be a bit of a wait till Hood can make a reply of any worth, unless the Hood asks Osborn to lend him a Quinjet, in which case, BT may have his answer in say, 24 hours. But then, Osborn would know too, wouldn't he? Still. It makes for a nice confrontation between the Hood and BT and the MS all on this little pristine Carribean Isle, as theyall head on a collision course to destiny.

Im kind of interested in seeing a supernatural zombie react to a virus or scientific based zombie. Could make for an interesting story.

I really enjoyed this.

I would love to see Van Lente do some kind of Midnight Sons ongoing or something.

That was the Living Mummy, not the Zombie.

I didn't even realise this was out.

Guess my love for Marvel Zombies kinda died when they left the zombieverse and focused it in 616.

I'm gonna pick this up but I'm not expecting much. :frown:

if you read marvel zombies 3 you would not be talking like that. That mini totally revitalized the zombie phenomenon that was going stale. I give big credit to the writer and his good ideas. Also this writer knows how to utilize what is going on in the current marvel universe and bring it into his zombie stories. Thats what I think is part of my appeal to it. He knows how to use the current Marvel status and created a Marvel zombies series from it.

Impressive. I like how Van Lente will pull unknown characters like Black Talon and Piranha and make them cool.
The fishmen zombies made me think of the frogs in Hellboy.
I only wished this wasn't just a 4-issue limited series. I hope MZ5 gets planned already.

I just wish MZ4 had continued as part of, and immediately after, MZ3 since its a continuation of the same storyline...a small complaint though as MZ3 was excellent and I expect the same here.

I also agree on Van Lente's use of C & D listers in these stories. The Command (Florida's Initiative team), Jocasta, and now Black Talon...It makes these books a great companion to Avengers: The Initiative, which also makes great use of that type of character.

I've got and read all of Marvel Zombies 3 and LOVED it, I'm just a little underwhelmed with this new series is all.

However I haven't picked this up yet so I could be won over.

I love Deadpool, I really love Deadpool but jesus christ..it's like Fred was in a bet to see how many quips he could fill every panel with.

I know the only thing left he has now is just a mouth but simmer down with that.

I adored Marvel Zombies 3, I think they should have continued with Machine Man, because this one doesn't really have a good hero to focus on. Very underwhelmed by issue 1, who knows maybe they will turn it around in issue 2 and get me more interested.

Personally I think Morbius is a great hero to focus on, heck i'm enjoying him alot more than I ever enjoyed Aaron Stack

i read the review and i wish the reviewer had explained what he found grating about Kales' Witch Armor, i was fine with it ( although i still would have perferred the very skimpy outfit she usually wears lol, although it would be a bad idea when fighting zombies). but i was pumped for this series simply because Hellstrom is in it, Monsters vs Zombies is rocking my face so far, but i kinda wish they had just stuck with what the midnight sons was doing rather than bouncing back and forth between zombie wade and the sons.

Agreed. I do not like the Warren Ellisized Machine Man one bit (actually, he wasn't so bad in Van Lente's hands), and I'm so glad his annoying self isn't in this series. Morbius, on the other hand, is looking and sounding fantastic.

Also, I really liked Hellstorm's more superhero look in Last Defenders, but I have to say, this look is much better for him. Man, the black priest outfit with the pentagram on the chest is eerily cool. This is really a whacked out unique look. And I just loved it when Jennifer asked him not to laugh again, it was such a blood curdling laugh.

And then there is Werewolf by Night - yes!! Van Lente's a genius making all these characters so cool. I've said it before, any character can be cool if written right.

Man, this is gonna be a fun series, but the only problem is it's only going to be 4 issues.

.

I would love that there was sex between Hellstrom and Jennifer. Just to see the fire between the the son of Satan and an Atlantis witch; I would like to see those sparks fly. She was showing him her booty on that cover by Greg Land. Would Hellstrom make her his Ho? Or would Jen resist him?

Wasn't there a line in there were Jen expressed that she wasn't interested in Hellstrom? Indeed, isn't Jen bisexual? There was a scene where she said that she wasn't interested in Hellstrom and Hellstrom responded in her b/c of her "duality." Again, I just glanced through the issue, so I may be wrong.

I couldn't read any implication of bisexuallity in the dialogue Hellstrom refered to Jennifer, but what I did detect was a sexual tention implied by Hellstrom, and the mistaken reference by Jen that Hellstrom was "Hot stuff". Now that may have been unintentional, that Jen meant it as a sexual attraction, but she did put it out there, subconsciously or consciously. It does lay a bit of groundwork for something to explore further by Hellstrom, seeing as the son of satan focussed on her. He is afterall the prodigy of the god of lust, and persuing the cravings of the flesh would not be unheard of.

Huh. I thought Jen was implying she batted for the other team.

Oh well.

I kind of took it as a nod to her being bi(which is fairly well known and even mentioned in the mystic arcana handbook) although I could easily be reading it wrong. It would be funny if they did hook up though considering Satana(Daimon's sister) and Kale had some sexual tension between them in the Witches mini.

I am curious to see if Lente brings up Tome of Zhered-Na and the connection between Kale, Satana, and Topaz because of it.

I'm guessing it was named after them, yes, although as far as I can tell, no actual island with that name is listed on any maps. However, given that this story seems to take place between San Juan and Florida, it would make sense. Presumably the island would be among those in the Bahamas.
