View Full Version : Could X-Men Forever become the new Flagship series/change in to Uncanny?

Does anyone think that this series may morph in to Uncanny and become the new Flagship series? Most people seem to hate the recent direction of X-Men,and this is a great team being featured in this book. Claremont working with these particular characters has always been successful no matter what era.

YES! PLEASE! The art will soon switch back and forth between:Travel Foreman with Matt Milla and JP Leon with Sienkiewicz, it will be bad ass.

Chris Claremont can sell more books than all of the other X-books combined. Sales figures alone prove that X-Men: Forever is the flagship title.

Ew no. I would not look forward to retconning 30 years of stories. And sorry, but Claremont is played out. His style is too old school compared to other writers.

Most people don't hate the direction of the X-line, they may be left unsatisfied with Uncanny at the moment... but I don't think people are running to hit the reset button.

Eventually. Once X-Men: Forever proves a success you'll get an X-Factor: Forever followed by a New Mutants: Forever. And then these books will become more popular than the original line, and everything will be cancelled apart from the books Chris Claremont writes. Sage will replace Cyclops as leader of the X-Men, Moira will return, Beast will lose his fur, Phoenix and Cyclops will get married, Dazzler and Nocturne will get married, Rogue will be cured and marry Gambit, Bishop won't kill any babies anymore, Psylocke will become British, and nothing will ever have to change ever again.

At least on these boards, if you look at my favorite writers of the last decade, around 100 people voted and not one person voted for Brubaker or Fraction which is pretty sad. Carey got a decent amount of votes and surprisingly so did Claremont. Sales are dwindling big time too. 71,000 for Uncanny and 56,000 for Legacy, so obviously something is wrong.

I will stop loving Bishop forever if he no longer kills babies. That is totally against his whole character.

Bru's run was a bit of a snore, and Fraction's run has been pretty lackluster. It doesn't shock me to see the numbers like that. Legacy is down at that number because its basically a Xavier solo title right now, all things considered, I think that book is selling pretty well for what it is.

I don't think anything is wrong, but I think there's room for improvement...

Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, Gambit, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Storm, Beast, and Professor X. The official Forever team as of issue number 2. That is a sick team. All my favorites.

New Mutants: Forever

I'd buy that, too.

...and nothing will ever have to change ever again.

Things probably changed more under Claremont than during any other extended run.

There were X-characters who didn't even know what "status quo" meant.

I never said that Forever would sell better than the titles that are considered in continuity, although I do expect it to sell double to triple what a first class book would sell. What I said was if they decided to put Claremont on Uncanny again with this storyline, it would sell far better than Uncanny is selling now. and it is a really great team.

My bad. In that case, then I agree with you that if CC wrote the XMF storyline in the UXM series it would MOST LIKELY sell a hell of a lot better then UXM is currently selling right now. Of course TPTB at Marvel would never do that because (this is only MY THEORY and I could be wrong) they don't want XMF to succeed.

I guess you haven't been reading the same Marvel comics I have been reading over the past 9 years. Since Quesada became EIC, Marvel has been trying to become DC.

I will be buying 10 copies of each issue of Forever (I already have several subscriptions to Marvel Digital Online under various email accounts so that I could support the Forever preview); clearly, I have faith this book will drive the others into the ground. But I think Uncanny X-Men is now beneath Claremont. He has soared to such heights of greatness that only Editor In Chief is an acceptable position. Then he can merge both DC and Marvel into one unified company where Wonder Woman and Storm can both get tentacles shoved up their unmentionables.

Unfortunately for Claremont (and his fans, and I guess fortunately for those of us who don't like his writing) it seems that the only titles that get cancelled anymore are his.

Wait... did I just get pulled into some kind of timewarp and end up back in the 90's? Because I think that was the last time a Claremont book outsold the other X-titles.

Personally, with his recent track record, I'd be very surprised if this book was still around after the first year or so.

Now, that would be freakin sweet!

Seriously though, The Man don't control CC enough. They don't want him too successful, and don't want him on flagship titles when they can have younger cronies churn out mediocre snoozefests.

Better he be given this free reign to write up some interesting stuff (and hopefully, interesting classic X-Men run and not highway death accident interesting like that awful Exiles run)

I am one of the biggest CC fans on here, I even liked Nexiles, but the preview for Forever has left me underwhelmed. Hopefully when it comes out it will turn out to be very entertaining. Hope it gets a chance to run for a few years before it gets cancelled.

I'd love it to go 17 years but I can't see that happening.

Yeah, the art is a little off-putting, very early ninties, but a chance to see the X-Men the way I remember them when they were a fun read is just too alluring.

Bachalo would have been sweet though, but I think you need to establish the whole just outta X-Men #3 first before you get a little wilder...
