From Emerald City Con:

Someone posted over at Comicbloc that Fabian would be on a BAT book later this summer. That's great news! I'm figuring Azrael might become an on-going. The person also said Batgirl would be coming out 'late summer' but I think we all figured that out already.

I was wondering how he ended up on the outside. Good to hear. Probably wouldn't be a stretch to see him on Batgirl at this point.

I wouldn't mind that all at. I see no reason why Fabian shouldn't be writing more than one DC book.

I am kind of hoping that Gotham Networks takes off and it can become it's on book. It hasn't even come out yet and I'm super excited to seeing Fabian writing Huntress, Batgirl, and Oracle.

It would be awesome if it could continue with Huntress in the lead, add maybe Grace (it was cool seeing her work with Huntress in one issue of Gail's Secret Six), and some other characters, maybe Jason Todd. It could DC's equivalent to X-Force but of course not as violent.

Streets of Gotham is apparently a continuation of The Network.

Great to hear. The only thing that worries me, is that he already said he wasn't writing anything, so he must have just found out.

I'm still alittle pissed that he didn't get put on Red Robin, seeing as how it's almost definitely Tim Drake.

On the downside, this is almost guaranteed to be another comic I'm going to have to buy this summer.

Streets of Gotham is apparently a continuation of The Network.

Not from the description we've been giving by Paul Dini, it doesn't appear to be. And I'm beginning to wonder if Huntress will even be featured in Streets of Gotham.

I was planning on buying whatever book Fabian was working on, I'm just glad it will still be a Bat book

If he's writing Batgirl, this could confirm some rumors that she's going to be Stephanie Brown and not Barbara Gordon.

Cool, I hope he's got a character I'm half interested in.

Given how he made Tim "grim & gritty" I consider this a blessing because I wouldn't buy it if he wrote it.

Fabian, if you're looking in, I know you can't give away any secrets, but can you confirm at this point whether or not you will indeed be writing a bat-book (since you said earlier you would not)?

I finally read Azrael Death's Dark Knight #1 and really dug it. If that is what his ongoing bat-book will be, I think I'm in for the trades.

You need a Fabe-signal you can shine into the sky whenever you want him to appear.

Awesome. Here's hoping he'll finally get a bat-title without (much) editorial mandate shackled to him.

And if it is Batgirl...lord have mercy on his soul.

I like Fabian and his writing a good deal. To have him not be on a Bat title past his Robin run would be a shame. I have enjoyed most of his work on X-men, X-Force and other titles I picked up since then. Plenty of action in the various titles he has worked on.

Since I went back to DC, my hopes he is on something good. His run on Robin was decent, and I wish him the best of luck in the future as a writer.

When he gets the right character, he does some damn fine characterization, and I don't care what haters have to say. He is established on many titles from the big 2, and has tried and delivered on multiple titles for both.

haters for Fabian? I haven't seen too many. In fact pretty much everything I've ever seen written about him has been positive. He's one of those guys, kind of like PAD that has been around for a long time, but was ahead of his time when he started so he has stayed relevant. Personally I'm sure Fabe's title which ever one it will be will be one of my favorites. He always writes great dialogue and characterization and injects a good amount of humor in his work.

I don't think Fabian was really ahead of his time. Outside of Vertigo and smaller publishers like Avatar and Oni, storytelling in comics hasn't changed much over the past 20 years.

Hey, Kurt Busiek doesn't need a signal, he just comes when you call.

Does that make Kurt Superman and Fabian Batman?

Kurt explained on comic bloc why he responds to most stuff metioning his name, As he actually does searches of posts with his name.

I think that rocks, We all have a little EGO in us.
Not even like Humbert Humbert, or Major Major Major.

I navigate this site, in part, by searching on my own name, thus finding comments about the comics I've written, and such like that. But on the one hand, it doesn't search on titles, so even though this thread has "Busiek" in the title, it won't crop up unless someone uses my name in a post; and on the other hand, it only searches a month back. So if no one says "Busiek" in this thread for a month, it drops out of the search results.

When that happens, I throw in a couple of "busiek" flags to get it back in the search results for another month.

Secrets of rampant egomania revealed!
