Just looking through my comics and found my big ol' stack of the old Marvel Team Up books. I love everything about these books. I really like the fact that they are just single stories that you don't need much back story to understand. Plus seeing Spidey team up with everybody under the sun is awesome. These were the first books that really got me into comics when I was younger. Anyway anyone else enjoy the old team ups and if so which ones were your favorite? I really liked the Doc Samson issue. The first panel has spidey talking about mooning people with the "Spider-moon." Classic.

I like this series as well. The first issue I bought was a team up between Spider-Man and Black Panther. I think either issue 86 or 87?
I'm also a big fan of Marvel 2 in 1. A memorable issue is the team up between Thing and Sandman.

My first issues were 9-11 where Spidey teamed up with Iron Man, the Torch, and the Inhumans in a 3-part story to save the Avengers.

I'm partial to the Claremont-written issues that had Nick Fury, Shang-Chi, and Black Widow (can't recall the issue numbers).
I also really enjoyed DeMatteis' run, especially the Gargoyle issue and the Ant-Man issues (I think there were two, anyway).

I'm trying to collect ALL the 700-some-odd team-up books, and despite having most-of-em, (including 140-or-so issues of MTU) stolen outta my car, I perservere.
So, yeah, one could say I'm a pretty big fan. Let's see how I do on the issue numbers...

87 sounds right. I'm reasonably sure it's an odd number in the late 80s, either 87 or 89.
I'm also a big fan of Marvel 2 in 1. A memorable issue is the team up between Thing and Sandman.
Ah, crap. Somewhere in the 80s. Not so up on 2-in-one. 87, again?
I'm partial to the Claremont-written issues that had Nick Fury, Shang-Chi, and Black Widow (can't recall the issue numbers).
I THINK the four part Doctor Strange story started in 77, and the above story was right after it, so... 81-84?
I also really enjoyed DeMatteis' run, especially the Gargoyle issue
119? Yeah, DeMatteis ) did some really smart, really brave stuff here, in a title that had a lot of throwaway filler.
On the down-side, when he was bad he was downright abysmal. The King Kull and Wolverine issues are some of the worst of the entire run, and Herb Trimpe, who's SO good on the Hulk and Godzilla, didn't really have the nuance to pull off what JMD was puttin' down.
and the Ant-Man issues
103. Best cover in the entire run, IMO.
Wasn't JMD, though. joint, though he started his regular run on the title with 111, although he did write the Nighthawk story in 101. Michelinie was writing most of the stories in the early hundreds, but I don't recall if he wrote that particular one.

Yeah, MTU was great. I don't own the entire run, I'm especially lacking in issues from the first 50 or so issues, but I do have quite a lot later MTU issues in my collection. Among my favourites are MTU #63 & #64 - a two-part team up with Spider-Man, Iron Fist and The Daughters Of The Dragon, issue #79 featuring Spider-Man and Red Sonja and #88 featuring Spider-Man and the Invisible Woman.
Of course there were many, many great issues of this title and it's one of those series that I continue to enjoy re-reading to this day.

You know I don't think I read those ones. I am gonna have to try to track them down for sure.

My favorite MTUs are the Spidey/Captain Britain vs. Arcade two parter and
the Havok/Spidey/Thor vs. the Living Monolith story.
For MTIO I have to go with the Project Pegasus storyline and whole thing involving Her, the Thing, Moondragon and the High Evolutionary searching for the body of Adam Warlock.

Oh, they're great...all kinds of late 70's Kung-Fu, exploitation goodness.

This is my favorite team-up of all time. Issue #74.....Spidey and the Not Ready For Prime-Time Players. Peter and MJ go to a taping of SNL hosted by Stan Lee. The Silver Samurai is after a sacred sword that was delivered to John Belushi.......I think you see where this is headed. Click on the thumbnail for a larger image.

Claremont and Byrne when they were hitting on all cylinders. Good stuff...well, if you can get past Claremont's silly 2nd person narrative. No, Chris, I am NOT Iron Fist. Stop telling me I am!
