Folks,
I'm trying to remember the name of a hardback graphic novel published in the last 30 years, and I hope you guys can name it. The book is set in the '30's, and a man, perhaps Jewish if I remember correctly, is pursued by the Germans, and is trying to escape them in some tropical clime. I'm pretty sure the artist/writer was Italian, and I remember I liked the art, and appreciate the style of the early 1930's.

Hm--not exactly what you're talking about, but here's a shot:

The Max Friedman series by Vittorio Giardino features an undercover agent fighting the fascists in the Spanish Civil War. It's got beautiful artwork, and even if it's not what you're looking for, it's well worth checking out! It's put out by NBM (http://www.nbmpub.com/comicslit/giardino/prag.html), a fantastic publisher.

Some of the books are still available for purchase at the NBM website HERE (http://www.nbmpub.com/comicslit/giardino/prag.html). I highly recommend his A Jew in Communist Prague, as well.
