Would anyone support the complete destruction of the DCU and a relaunch of all DC comics with continuity being a main focus point?
Kind of like they tried to do with the ultimate marvel lines and the all star dc lines. Relaunch everything will all new number ones that are given specific dates. Retell everyone's origins back stories. A complete wipe and relaunch of the DC Universe with someone watching over all the titles to make sure continuity is kept.
Less cross overs and one shots. How would you go about doing this if you were in charge.

I prefer good storytelling to be the main focus point rather than continuity.

Since I don't regularly collect a single DC title, I say 'Hell yes!' if for no other reason to see what would happen.

I prefer good storytelling to be the main focus point rather than continuity.
But how is it good story telling if it goes against the characters previously stated back story. I'm so ocd that I can hardly enjoy comics due to all the continuity screw ups.
One of my favorite moments was the scene in titans that ties teen titans with identity crisis with that one scene of Tim getting elbowed in the eye by Cyborg letting us know that when he went home he was going to be going through the identity crisis stuff.
West Wing did me one better one time when they aired an out of continuity episode and actually said at the beginning of the episode that we shouldn't try and figure out where the episode fit in the series because it didn't and there was no point in trying to make it fit.

Nope. Continuity should serve the story. We learned with Countdown exactly what happens when you try and make a ton of different stories by a ton of different creative teams over a variable span of time and mesh them all together.
It's a mess.
It's an ugly mess.
It's an ugly, ungainly mess that is absolutely no fun for anyone involved.

Certainly continuity could be handled more consistently but it should be a tool of the storytellers and not the primary objective.

Well I didn't forget it I wasn't reading comics when the original crisis came out.
Even the original crisis didn't perfect anything. This would be completely starting fresh.

The DCU, burn that porker down.
Reboot, retcon, revamp, restart.

The thing with the Ultimate Marvel and the All-Star DC lines are that they were never intended to replace the "real" titles. Marvel never planned on eliminating Amazing Spider-man in favor of USM.
...and even the Ultimate universe has been showing signs, here and there, of buckling under its own continuity. A fresh start wouldn't keep problems away for long if you insist on keeping continuity tight.

Nuke it all.
I'd love to see different characters in different ways, much like the old multi-verse, or even the All-Star line. Captain Marvel rarely crosses over with Superman, Batman does his own thing, the JLA gets together once in a while, but it's never this huge event that smothers all else.
I miss change too, that feeling that you could do anything, instead of just having the same damn stories told over and over again. Even if there's failure, at least the old days had some interesting possibilities, new characters and scenarios, and some memorable twists. DC and Marvel are almost bereft of all those things nowadays.

I completely support the complete destruction of pretty much any universe.
Dc, Marvel, this one. . . what ever.

Continuity was never supposed to be a main focus of the Ultimate line, and if you actually read those books, it isn't. It's a complete mess if you try to obsessively cram everything together into a single timeline.
Focusing on continuity is a big reason most superhero comics are utter shit.

Hmmm, this entire Crisis thing as just completely screwed with everyone. I like good story telling, a good plot, and a decent continuity here and there just so everything connects. I like one shots that have nothing to do with the actual plot, and stories that do have to connect to the main plot/continuity I think you can have a great mix of both.
For DC, I don't know if rebooting would be the way to go, considering... okay well... Now I suppose since they feel like wiping years of progress for some characters, and douche bagging others maybe a small little retcon to fix it won't be too horrible in the case of some characters anyway, just not the entire U.

No reboots, please. I'm tired of seeing the exact same stories remade over and over again. How many versions of Superman's origin have we seen now? How many versions of Batman's first fight with the Joker? That shit's weak. Move forward. Tell interesting new stories.
