I was playing street fighter 4 on my ps3 and well the game is so good that I remember the marvel capcom fighting games that are still looked at with fond memories and how good it was. I came up with a idea and draft of Marvel Super Heroes 2 by Capcom with Street fighter 4ish style graphics and gameplay. I made the list with 25 characters and using a story for with elements of House of M, Civil War, World War Hulk, Secret Invasion and hints of Messiah Complex and One More Day as Mephisto as a overpower boss character.
My Character List. Alternative Costume
1.Captain America First Appearance Cap
2. Iron-man(Extremis) Original Iron Man

Lets not forget the awesome Capcom Music, remixes of the returning characters themes like Spider-man, Cap, Wolverine, Cyclops ect from past games of Marvel super heroes, X-men COAT and the Vs series.
I actually kind of wish Marvel would do something with Mortal Kombat.
Don't get me wrong... SF is an infinately better game. But it sort of lacks in the story department.
But I did LOVE the marvel vs Capcom games, as well as Marvel superheroes. Fun fun stuff.

Street fighter 4 is an amazing game. I would love to see Marvel heroes in that system and would buy the game in a heartbeat.

If Capcom did nab the license, you can bet they'd use the Tatsunoko Vs Capcom engine instead.

I'd love if Capcom would buy the Mortal Kombat rights. Maybe the Mortal Kombat franchise would be good again if that happened.

No street fighter style graphics, that would utterly ruin it. Hand drawn 2d is the way to go, with nice bright colors and more drawn feel to it. Look at all the comic book based fighting games, personally cant think of one that was worth a shit that wasnt 2d, cartoony style. Everytime they went more realistic or 3d it went right in the shitter.

And no capcom shouldnt make mortal kombat. If they did it would become more complicated, fast, flashy and while a decent game wouldnt be a good MK game. Look at part 2 and to a lesser extent 3, they were great games even by todays standards because they had alot of heart in them and were simple to play and just fun. It didnt need flashy graphics or complicated moves or even more than 4 buttons.
MK would still be good if midway would have stopped making mediocre games and kept cranking out shit to try and get a financial hit to get out of their hole of debt. The very thing that was killing them was what they were using to try and stay alive. So once again MK vs dc, shit game that they were banking more on the title than they were a solid game that was polished, fun and good quality.
MK should be left to die a peacefull death where we can pretend that they only made 3 of them and thats it. Because no one will ever be able to recapture what made MK so good in the early days, those times have passed. Its what sega should have done with sonic the hedgehog years ago also.

Why would MK become more complicated if Capcom made them? And I'll rather have fast and flashy then stiff and clunky gameplay.

So they where in a financial hit when the produced Mortal Kombat 4? The problem was that they didn't really do anything drastic to change the gameplay, if you don't include having three different fighting styles.

It's a good franchise that definitely should get an another chance.

Yeah but those 3D fighting games you're taking about were made by people that don't really know what there doing...I think Capcom has shown they can make great 3D cartoony looking fighter with SF4. Also...the old Mortal Kombat games are not good games by todays standards at all, they were just a gimmick.

But MK did have flashy graphics for the time, the moves were as complicated as anything else (maybe even more so once they started focusing on preset combos) and they had 6 buttons...not 4.
And MK games don't hold up today at all.

And yet Street Fighter and Mario manage to succeed where MK and Sonic failed. Both of those series are older than MK and sonic but time hasn't affected their quality or popularity.
It's a matter of MK not keeping up with the times and being ridiculously outdated next to everything else in the genre. Nobody needs to recapture what made MK so good back in 1992, they needed to focus on what would make it good today. Something they never understood.
