I usually just peruse the Artist and Writer's Corner here, so if I'm in the wrong place to ask, feel free to direct me elsewhere.

Recently I was commissioned to produce a 12 page comic for a friend's wedding. I'm going for a classic 60's and 70's Marvel and DC style for it, along the lines of Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Dennis O'Neal, Neal Adams, etc.

What I'm looking for are very iconic elements from that time to work into the comic. Any suggestions are welcome, and in particular I'm looking for very well-known quotes/sayings -stuff along the lines of "criminals are a cowardly and superstitious lot." "with great power comes great responsibility," and the green lantern oath.

Also, iconic wedding images/kisses from comics would be welcomed as well.

Thanks in advance.

I had forgotten about Arm-Fall-Off-Boy, that's hilarious.

and some small ones

History has been made -- first time "small ones" has ever been used in any context regarding Power Girl.

LOL but I didn't even think of that when I posted it. It's just that was the only picture I could find of that page of JSA. Also note that the other small picture is a 70's JLA/JSA two page spread done by George Perez (I think).

"Walloping websnappers" (from the cartoon)
"Hulk will smash!"
"You friendly neighbourhood Spider-man"
"It's clobbering time!"
"Wot a revolting development"
"Avengers Assemble!"
"Bah, puny humans"
"By the hoary hosts of Hogarth"
"By Odin's beard!"
"I say thee nay!"
"I'm the best at what I do, and what I do isn't very nice" (not so 60's)
"Great Krypton!"
"The man of tomorrow"
"Oh my stars and garters!"
"Whatever knows fear, burns at the touch of the Man-Thing! (70's)
"The madder Hulk gets the stronger he gets"
"Up in the air it's a bird, its a plane, it's..." (going way back)
"Up, up and away!"
"This looks like a job for..." (Usually Superman, but don't I think all superheroes have a collective ownership of this one)
"I unleashed Shagg upon the world"/ "I brought Zog the unbelievable back to life" etc. (I always though those cover confessionals from 50's Marvel's were pretty iconic)
"My Spidey sense is tingling"
"<sigh> Oh, Brad (just pick a name), how can I ever tell you the truth!" (typical sort of iconic thought bubble from the cover heroine of a myriad romance titles, usually expressed while in the midst of a passionate embrace... kind of stuff Lichtenstein would rip)

A familiar one from the '70s in particular (at least for me) --

"Trapped in a world he never made!"

Visually, I'd say look at all of Jack Kirby's covers. That man didn't make covers so much as story pages without panels. Especially FF and Avengers.

Oh, and "Great Scott!"

Yeah, Kirby is my numero uno influence for this stuff. However, I'm not comfortable working with heavy blacks, so it won't look that way with the artstyle, just in personality/character design.
