New Zelda game announced for the DS, called The Legend of Zelda Spirit Tracks. Seems to be a possible connection to the Wind Waker and Phantom Hourglass, in at least visual style. Info here (http://www.zeldauniverse.net/zelda-news/gdc-2009-nintendo-unveils-a-new-zelda-game/#more-4396)

Awesome. I can't believe that they made this so quickly after Phantom Hourglass. At least it feels quick.

Zelda is my favorite game series. I can not wait to play it. I hope it isn't DSi only. I just got a PS3 I can't afford getting another system.

Hourglass came out in 07. We had no Zelda games in 08. This is a better time then any for a new one.

Arg! I hate this art style!!!

Interesting... With Phantom Hourglass, Twilight Princess and now this game, it looks like Nintendo is edging Zelda closer and closer to steampunk. Not that I'm complaining. I love steampunk, and I'm madly in love with the Wind Waker setting.

Can't wait for this one.

Least it appears to have dropped that damned touch screen movement from hourglass.

They keep showing that mechanic of lines to make things move or point though, I hope its not just a damn gimmick overused as a new feature.

Wish they would just make a simple zelda game thats fun. Virtually every one made after a link to the past has been bad in its own way or just plain boring.

I hope they don't drop the stylus movement of PH. I thought it was very fun.

Yeah, I hadn't realized it, but right after I posted I checked online and they seem to come out with a new game about every other year.

I still haven't finished PH yet!!!

I haven't even finished Wind Waker yet!!

Looks like it could be a fun game though. Now where's my Wii Zelda?

Trailer doesn't do much for me but I liked Phantom Hourglass so I'll probably enjoy this one too.

Oh really? Well, now I have a reason to be interested in this game.

I'll second that. The touch controls are half the reason why I haven't picked up PH in months. The controls for the older GB/A Zelda games are so simple that the learning curve is effectively nonexistent. Control pad to move. A button swings sword. B button uses special item. Why mess with it?

Because half the items in the game use the stylus, so constantly switching from the standard controls to pulling out the stylus would interrupt the flow of action. Its quicker to move the stylus.

Something tells me the stylus movement will be back.

The stylus movement took like an hour to get used to, maybe less. It was intuitive, easy to control, and allowed for some interesting new uses of items and other things for dungeon exploration/puzzle solving.

As Mike said above, I believe this will use the same style, since it would be a huge hassle to switch your right hand from buttons to stylus on the fly.

I didn't mind the stylus control in Phantom Hourglass, but I understand the unfamilarity of it. Having to just tap an enemy instead of pressing a button seemed a bit odd to me.

The problem I had with stylus movement was that you were supposed to attack and move with what was essenatially one button. That made it a bit too easy to mess up control inputs. D-pad movement, with everything else being stylus would work better, I think.

You're kidding me! I had no idea that certain games would only be DSi accessible! I thought that it was going to be like the SP v. Advanced where it was just a....I guess that would be the DS v. DS Lite, wouldn't it? So I've got to buy a DSi now?

Crap.
Why does Nintendo automatically think that people have money...

It won't be DSi only. If there will be DSi only games, they won't be huge games like Zelda, where Nintendo wants to reach a wide audience.

A huge, train-loving audience.

Sure, it may have that controversial artstyle, but at least it's a new Zelda game. I really enjoyed "Phantom Hourglass", with the exception that you were unable to use the control pad at all.

I'm so going to tell the boys over at Mushroom Kingdom Fusion about this!

Actually, I just went to EB Games and a woman working there not only told me everything there is to know about the DSi, but also explained that there will be no DSi only games, it's strictly just the next in the line of new hardware features.

But the DSi does sound excellent, it's basically a little laptop, it works on wi-fi and has unlimited browsing features from there, not to mention that it doesn't do the stupid thing where it turns off when you get off a menu or feature (like Picto-Chat or the settings) in the initial interface.

Only thing is, it doesn't have a gba slot, but even if I do get one (as soon as or if they come out with green by my birthday) I guess my first thought wouldn't be to toss out my DS Lite (Gave away my GBA years ago, but I've still got my old color).

New trailer from E3

New Information on it

http://www.zeldauniverse.net/zelda-news/new-spirit-tracks-information-surfaces-from-e3/

Im liking the use of the Phantom mechanic, being in control of essentially another character, and the creature coming after the train in the tunnel in the trailer reminds me of one of the original trailers of Twilight Princess, where they had Gohma chasing Link.

Is it stylus based (like Phantom Hourglass) or does it use other controls too?
